Another life. Another family forever changed. Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo should have gone home to his family. Instead, his family was asked to identify his body. Remember his name. 🕊️ Delaney Hall needs to be shut down. #SheShed

Still image from a video showing a father hugging his smiling young daughter at a celebration. Large text reads: “Another immigrant man dies inside Delaney Hall, his name was Edwin.” The video discusses the death of Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo while in ICE custody at Delaney Hall.

In 2021, there were roughly 101 gender clinics offering care to transgender youth offering a full range of gender affirming care. By July 2026, there are only about 31 left that still prescribe hormones and puberty blockers.

People in columbus, OH or the general ohio area, i would not suggest going outside today. The air quality in the middle of state is 415, which is absolutely horrible.

My friend is dead. A driver, through neglect, recklessness or malice, has killed Louisa. I’m beside myself with grief and filled with righteous anger at a city that has stalled and slow-walked safety improvements for all road users. Louisa should be here with us.

A cycling advocate and transportation planner for the city of Boston was identified as the cyclist who was struck and killed in a crash near Roxbury Crossing this morning.

Hello friends near and far 💜 I've reached the end of my savings, frustratingly, just as we've solved the root mystery of my illness (it's Lyme) and are seeing continued success with treatment. I'm asking for your help in bridging the gap between now and when I can hopefully work full-time again.

I’m not thrilled that apparently the secret to success in basically every field right now is “be really good at short form video”

Refreshing the countdown for summer game fest like every couple hours. I really hope ff7 remake part 3 is revealed tomorrow. I need to know how they’ll conclude the story and having no details is hard lol

I love how AMC trailers are now 1. Trailers 2. Ad for Amazon 3. More trailers 4. AMC ad telling you you’re at a movie 5. AMC ad reminding you that you’re at a movie 6. 5-sec cut of Nicole Kidman reminding you you’re at the movies 7. TURN OFF YOUR PHONE 8. Did you know you’re at the movies

“Honey, they’re hitting us.” 💔 That’s what a woman says her husband told her from inside Delaney Hall. She says detainees were beaten, gassed, and injured. Now she says they’re cleaning up the blood. Every elected official should be at Delaney Hall demanding answers RIGHT NOW. #SheShed

For all the folks that ever thought frontend development was "easy" This week on Overcommitted we chatted with @nerdy.dev all about job searching in 2026, career growth, and how and how the heck people figure out CSS in the age of AI. Check it out wherever you listen to podcasts!

I'm sorry, what? In writing my first monograph, I spent six weeks trying to track down a citation in TWO languages I didn't know. And good thing too, because the citation was wrong. That's scholarship. That's research. You know, the thing we're trained to do?!?

The reactions of some researchers on Twitter finally being held responsible for not having read the very paper they submitted are... something. Mainly, they don't think they should have to check every citation or make sure the data is real and accurate. Because it's too hard, I guess.

This was a hard story to report. Newborns who don’t get a vitamin K shot are 81 times more likely to develop a condition where they bleed uncontrollably. But more and more families are declining the shot. And babies are dying. www.propublica.org/article/more...

Babies Are Bleeding to Death as Parents Reject a Vitamin Shot Given at Birth

A lifesaving injection given at birth to prevent severe bleeding has become collateral damage of the anti-vaccine movement.

Anyone who wants to end birthright citizenship wants to bring back slavery. Those same people also claim non-citizens have no rights—not the right to protest against deportation, nor the right to not have police break down their doors, nor the right to defend themselves in a proceeding.

The State Department has finalized a plan to put a picture of Donald Trump in passports. A portrait of an actual president has never been featured in a passport before, let alone a living one in office. This is dictator stuff.

An image presenting two vertical panels of a mockup for a proposed U.S. passport design. Both panels feature a background of the American flag with a light red and white wavy stripe pattern.

Left Panel: Features a large, detailed engraving-style portrait of Donald Trump in a suit and tie. Above him is the header for the Declaration of Independence, and below the portrait is his signature in gold script. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are printed at the bottom in a bold, serif font.

Right Panel: Displays a classical illustration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence set within an oval frame. Below the illustration, the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are repeated, followed by a placeholder passport number, "A12345678," at the bottom.

The caption below the image reads, "The proposed new passport design. (Department of State)."

This fking asshole can take his apology & shove it. He has the balls to say even though he knew he was lying to ppl it wasn't intentional. Bullshit! He knew exactly what he was doing & he knew it was wrong but he was making so much money he didn't care. He's a douchebag of the worst kind.

This is my point exactly. You can mentor junior devs, they feel shame for taking down prod and thus won't do it again in the same way, they are needed to eventually replace senior devs. You need the weird one off experiences so when they happen at a new company you can go "Oh yeah, I know this!"

LLMs aren’t good programmers. I think we’ve reached a point where, by using an obscene amount of power and ram, they can be entry level junior programmers, and a more senior dev needs to review their commits when senior devs retire, who replaces them? and how long will they put up with babysitting?

A worker died at an Amazon warehouse in Oregon last week. For more than an hour, workers were instructed to continue working as the man lay dead. One worker wanted to help, but a manager told them to “Just turn around and not look. Let’s get back to work," according to @thewesternedge.bsky.social.

If i have give all sorts of data to graphql when im querying data, why do they send back an ambiguous “no more mocked responses” error if my query is missing details? It would be so much easier to just tell me what fields im missing.
