Pretty sure this is a local graffiti artist's tag, but it *is* kind of calling out for an #rstats package.

A year or so ago this street art would have been nearly void of profound meaning. In 2026 Minneapolis? Intensely poignant and political. We had whistles. They had guns. Minneapolis.
My beloved 1986 Volvo 240, which turned 40 this year (yes, I had a party), is a manual. It may just outlive me.

I am losing my mind. Chat isn’t a search engine. this isn’t normal. framing it as normative is slimy. Tone, vibes all bad.
Hi, this is Holden emerging from my Bluesky hiatus to tell everyone that when checking the links in the piece, I used ChatGPT as my search engine (does anyone use Google anymore?). The piece was written by me and edited by humans. So all the links were checked by me and again by our copyeditors.
ICE agents shouldn’t be executing people on the street even if they ARE the target of the warrant
A really nice data visualization and story-telling in the scrolling of this Pudding article on women's clothing sizes. They are a mess but this shows you in which ways they are messed up: pudding.cool/2026/02/wome...

from my own perspective this is one of the greatest harms done by this government and plotting a course to reverse this damage is must be a very priority in our speech and our activism
Stephen Miller was reportedly the driving force behind the DOJ's recent memo authorizing states to institutionalize people with disabilities rather than fund community-based care
I listened to the press conference so you don’t have to: - 15 defendants, all from the Twin Cities. 13 currently in custody - Direct Action MN mentioned - quotes and video from people fedposting on Instagram - lots of very obvious lies, local reporters were skeptical and they cut the Q&A off
I leave myself good calendar notes. Anyhoo, tomorrow is JD Vance’s launch of a book with the same title as a much better book by bell hooks. I’ve been meaning to get this one for awhile anyway and am looking forward to flat sales for him, so adding the bell hooks book to cart
Just a reminder that today is a great day to buy bell hook's Communion and mess up someone else's SEO and rankings. I haven't purchased anything on Amazon in years but I went back just to do this.

To chime in as a Minneapolitan: whistles made a huge difference (and still do, ICE is still kidnapping people here, just at a slower pace). But what really helped was the pre-existing neighborhood groups from the summer of 2020, so get yourself whistle kits and start talking to your neighbors *now*
Reminder: as ICE just got $70 billion more (fuck ICE), we are still sending out whistles to anyone who wants them. linktr.ee/3Dwhistles
grabbing every small business owner I can find by the shoulders and yelling directly into their faces that IF I DON'T HAVE AN INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT I CAN'T SEE ANY OF YOUR SHIT GET A FUCKING WEBSITE
I remind my husband of this several times a year. Same with if I'm killed in a mass shooting. Please politicize my death!
I’ve said for years and I mean it: If I’m ever killed on my bike or as a pedestrian: You are all expected to politicize the shit out of my death. There would be no greater way to honor me than to use my death to prevent more senseless fatalities. You can start doing it before I’m even buried.
Georgi was the realtor we worked with to find our house! I'm not on Instagram anymore but she has a great eye for tile and other architectural details.
Another floor of GeorgiGregori on Instagram, who has an enviable collection of tile photos.
I guess I am live-tweeting my reading of the Magnifica Humanitas
"We must avoid the 'Babel syndrome,' the idolatry of profit that sacrifices the weak, a uniformity that neutralizes differences, and the pretense that a single language — even a digital one — can translate everything, including the mystery of the person, into data and performance."
I miss the old 538. It was a good website. Even if you disagreed with the models, conclusions, etc., it compiled a lot of useful data in one place, was completely free to the public, and made for a lot of great class discussions.
ABC News has now taken all FiveThirtyEight articles completely offline. They now redirect to abcnews dot com.politics. A needless erasure of thousands of pages of knowledge.
This is the Gaviidae Common loon. (I never thought about the pun ok “Common” in the mall name … get it, “Common Loon” is the state bird, gaviidae is the scientific name for loons)

We are very happy that today Apple issued a patch and a security advisory. This comes following 404 Media reporting that the FBI accessed Signal message notification content via iOS despite the app being deleted.
