That is, you don't have to be in gmail to talk to someone else in gmail. The norm is so powerful, it'd be unthinkable to change it. All email is interoperable. Social media could've been this way.

A recent survey found that 92% of U.S. adults have delayed or avoided medical care due to high costs. Meanwhile, a new study from Yale estimates that Medicare for All would save over 114,000 lives and $1 trillion a year. If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have universal healthcare.
the other thing is that most of the DSA program would be net money positive up to like the top decile. my federal taxes would probably go up 50% under Medicare for all but zeroing out healthcare costs would more than compensate

For years I’ve wondered why businesses don’t generally support single-payer health care, which would save them tons of money in the long run. The only answer I can really come up with is that for them, the leverage employer-funded care gives over the workforce is worth the price.

Actually, one more - I feel like I should say this directly, so here goes. In the 90s and 00s, the groups I remember pursuing this strategy (hyperpublicize mugshots, Black crime statistics, etc) were Stormfront, the Klan, etc. Now it's the New York Times and the Telegraph. That is the story here.

Plenty to reflect about re: the Arday affair, but I'm going to repeat this one thing. The playbook the right used here is effective even though it's not especially sophisticated, as it relies on the audience to do the dirty work. "no one will be normal about AOC if she runs for president" is both true and a bad reason for her not to run. you could run the most milquetoast middle of the road clean cut straight white man alive and the right is still going to act like the deranged freaks they are
I have seen so many dif accounts and like paid commentators make variations on the argument that trans people need to sit down and shut up as if what’s happening to trans people isn’t literally part of the fascism they’re so worried about
