I don't think people are ready for this kind of joke yet.
At this point, "office 365" feels more like a threat than a product name.
Me: 🎶 Billy Pilgrim arrived just the other day Came unstuck in time in the usual way 🎶 Chris: No, that's Slaughterhouse Five.
Could be fun to see this one wind up in front of the SCOTUS.
NEW: Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, facing ethics inquiries for misconduct, has threatened to strip state scholarships from Catholic schools unless the Church rewrites its vaccine doctrine. It is an unprecedented attack by an American state on the religious liberty of the Catholic Church.
Don’t spoil me by telling me what Antigonus is pursued by when he exits!
“Pragmatists” always insist political success requires solving the harder collective-action problem—a diffuse mass of people with little power coordinate their rhetoric and actions—rather than the simpler one: a much smaller group of people with actual power be less terrible.
As much as radicals get criticized for being "unrealistic," demanding entire demographics facing literal genocide always maintain mild rhetoric and actions is an absolutely delusional level of conformity to expect. I don't think that gets said enough.
It is funny that this person thinks “immigrants defended the union while native born whites sought to destroy it in the name of slavery” is an argument against immigrants being Americans. This is precisely the point, nothing about being born here makes you better bsky.app/profile/aphc...
Another datapoint for the fascist radicalisation of institutional pillars of much of the American Right

The galaxy brain gloss on this, which would instantly solve the problem of the Senate being the most unrepresentative upper chamber in the democratic world, is that every single one of 🇺🇸's 100 largest MSAs - all of which have at least as many people as Wyoming - should be independent city states.
New Orleans should be an independent city state. Just my two cents.
Someone once suggested that @adapalmer.bsky.social’s Terra Ignota books would be best adapted as an anime series, and I can’t help but envision it as having a narrative style similar to His and Her Circumstances (aka Kare Kano). youtu.be/K39MgS491a8?...

All this makes me want to see @adapalmer.bsky.social Terra Ignota made into a three-season prestige TV series
Half of all action TV shows used to be about the hero coming into town, finding one of these rich guys and his yokel goon squad, and kicking his ass with karate or an invisible motorcycle.
Most rural areas have a ruling class. And they want cheap unfree workers & to pass their fiefdoms on tax-free forever. It ain't rocket science. The fact that we're scared to talk about THAT, ime, is what's costing us a lot of rural voters!

Sat down to write about the Hugging Face/AI incident. Ended up drawing this instead.
Watching the same people who argued that criticism is wankery and the meaning of a text is no deeper than its literal meaning (“the curtains are fucking blue”) reinvent crit from first principles, but badly, is a hell of a ride as someone with a degree in lit crit.
Half the planet is having a massive fight about how to correctly interpret an Ancient Greek poem but go ahead, close some more humanities departments.
this is a terrific opening paragraph for a dystopian pulp novel released in 1997
“Loitering is not permitted in this area. Please proceed to a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation,” a surveillance machine tells a small cluster of National Guard members as they patrol the fenced off Reflecting Pool in the rain.
If I say "I am giving $500 to someone who wants to burn your house down, but it's okay, I also gave $5 to someone who's trying to buy you a fire extinguisher," I have not somehow "made things better." There's still a well-funded arsonist behind you.
Absolutely this! It bugs me so much when people do not consider the visuals in a visual medium to be the text because they’re so used to conflating Words as Text. Pictures are the text if the medium is visual.
The Onion went full antisemitic. It's not even forking funny.
You see this in the Onion? It’s a fucking plague.
Honestly kind of amazed that this person went from arguing about tomatoes to ranting about Zionists without going through the did-Israel-invent-cherry-tomatoes thing.
If you hate Israel but not Jews, it behooves you to show to the Jews of the world that they do not, in fact, need Israel as a final bastion of their culture in the face of a world that wants to kill them all.
Why didn't the eagles just fly Odysseus straight to Ithaca
