If you know someone 18-25, or you or friends have young adults home for summer, get them to vote! They want to but sometimes have obstacles finding their ballot, deciding who to vote for, how to vote, etc. Show them electioncheatsheet.org if left leaning - and use ballot boxes, not mail.

Now Council is proposing to pull this funding from our general fund, which is already facing a $175 million deficit. I look forward to seeing which critical services they plan to cut from the general fund to make their numbers work.

WOW. New announcement from Seattle CMs Strauss, Hollingsworth, and Foster saying they will fund universal school meals starting in the fall after all by using the general fund. Hard to see this as anything but a realization of the high political price they paid for their votes yesterday.

Yet somehow there's this persistent narrative that everywhere north of the ship canal is a wealth of money, fame, and fortune that is unmatched anywhere in the county. It's true that the north end is on average better off than south Seattle but that's still not a universal experience!

This is not the only teacher who does this, it’s common to see instant soup and juice packs in the backs of classrooms, many teachers stock protein bars in the cabinets, I know a teacher who brings Costco deli packs and crackers every week, another keeps fresh oranges or apples in a bowl
