So if you're going to be doomscrolling today, at least make it a journey through decades of community creativity that helped shaped gaming as we know it. Maybe something you made is in here? doomscroll.cx
When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
Seems like it's worth posting this one again.
Do I have academic research abstract deadlines? Yes. Do I have extra free time? No. Will all my research abstracts now have to be about DoomScroll? Yes and I'm super excited about it.

It's here! We wanted to make a fun scrolling interface for DOOM levels, and call it DOOMSCROLLER. doomscroll.cx is now live! @johnromero.bsky.social
Every year another Doom birthday rolls by and reminds me of the same thing: I never actually launched the project I started five years ago with @textfiles.com Today, I finally fix that.

How does ROLLBACK NETCODE work, why is it so difficult to program, and why is it the gold standard for fighting games? A whirlwind tour of different solutions #pixelart #gamedev #AnimationVERSUS The setup: you have a video game with couch co-op and want to add online multiplayer. Easy, right...? 🧵
WebGPU/WebXR integration is ready for developers to start testing in Chrome canary! Available on Windows and Android with a couple of small example pages to get you started. Please give it a try, file bugs, and give us feedback! #WebGPU #WebXR
Experimenting with WebGPU in WebXR
For the last few months I’ve been working on implementing experimental support for WebGPU/WebXR integration in Chrome, and now it’s ready for developers to try on Windows and Android!

Introducing Slow Roads 2.0 - procedurally-generated, scenic roads for endless driving zen. Built with @threejs.org to run in your browser - no installs, no ads, just roads. Play free at slowroads.io #threejs #webgame #javascript #procedural #webgl
Few things more inspiring than the TRS-80 MC-10 software emulation library at @archive.org - over 800 programs, some rather recently written, trying to squeeze every glowing drop of potential fun and old-style computer joy out of a powerless computer system. archive.org/details/soft...
I made a Doom source port that runs within a PDF file. PDFs support Javascript, so Emscripten is used to compile Doom to asm.js, which is then run within the PDF engine. Input/output is done by manipulating text input fields. doompdf.pages.dev/doom.pdf github.com/ading2210/do...
My water experiment in #webxr using #threejs is live. If you have a WebXR-compatible device, you can access it here: webxr-water.vercel.app For now, the experience is optimized for #MetaQuest3. I plan to add support for more devices soon. I hope you like it 😊
This past weekend, I built a portfolio website entirely using natural language through bolt.new — no coding required. The site itself is powered by @threejs.org and React. Try it yourself in thread
atproto aha moments: - you can host your data - it's just json - it's typed but any app dev can invent those types - records have URIs - records are signed so cacheable without trust - relay aggregates everyone’s events into a global stream - backends subscribe to relay and update local DBs

The steam engine was invented in 1712. An observer at the time might said: “The engine will power everything: factories, ships, carriages. Horses will be obsolete!” They would have been right—but *200 years later*, we were still using horses to plow fields: blog.rootsofprogress.org/big-tech-tra...

i think its soo important to get the sky right if you want a place in vr to feel real. Stars especially just feel off most of the time, usually because they're way too bright or uniformly spaced out. for most of my worlds I like to use star maps from NASA: svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/4851/ #MadeForVRChat
While I avoid planning class for tomorrow, how about a cool #Physics demo? ⚛️🧲 Let's talk about Faraday's Law. What's Faraday's Law, precious? Well, it's the reason that a sheet of aluminum can bring a swinging magnet to a screeching halt.
i remember the first time i absolutely lost it at a meme and it was this image. it...doesn't really hold up 😬
