Outlook search can't find an email with a direct word search for a URL received yesteday and puts emails from two weeks ago as the top results for the sender of what I need. Unbelievably worthless product

Yep, you have a merit order within the gas stack, not just at a system level between technologies, so if you can force off the less efficient and more costly gas plant (or in edge cases peakers) then you can bring the wholesale price down without eliminating gas entirely.

that may put me in a minority - and I accept not everyone uses social media at least partly for their work - but I miss having some interesting eg centre-right people on here! having a Twitter timeline full of clever people from over the political spectrum was good for the brain

An interesting opposite to this is the odd novel where futuristic/ sci fi elements, or the supernatural are added in for seemingly no reason. Cold comfort farm is a classic case . The futuristic elements are so superfluous that they don't make the adaptation and are forgotten by many readers

Is there a name for what I think of as “assistive sci-fi or fantasy” - i.e. where there’s a fantastical element but it’s just there as a device to explore the theme. I don’t mean “this scifi is also deep”, like LeGuin, I mean i.e. “the scifi element is a device to move the real plot along”

I think people often think accounts online are bots when they're just human beings with so little ability to reason that they have reduced themselves to something indistinguishable from a machine.
