What a no vote on Seattle's Prop 1 is a vote for, according to the Seattle Public Library Foundation. Imagine advocating for public libraries to be defunded at a time like this. Couldn't be me.

More than one-third of the Library's funding in 2027 (and beyond) would disappear. SPL would be forced into drastic budget reductions.
Library staff jobs would likely be lost. A quarter of the 600-plus positions at SPL, including one-third of all children's and teen librarians, are Levy-funded.
Branches might close or see significantly reduced hours due to staffing shortages. Free programs like Story Time, author events, and many others would likely be scaled down substantially.
Half of the budget for books and materials would be lost, significantly increasing hold times and decreasing the range of reading options, including the likely elimination of Peak Picks.
The City would be forced into a long and complex process to restore funding. Cuts are highly unlikely to be addressed in the regular budget process, given the City's revenue situation.
While another ballot measure could be brought forward and approved eventually, the Library and its patrons could feel these adverse budget impacts for a year or more.

Trump’s bombing of Iran is reckless and a direct threat to American and Iranian lives. Launching military strikes without congressional authorization or evidence of an imminent threat is not strength. It is an abuse of power. Tell your Members of Congress to put an immediate stop to this war.

Tell Congress: No War with Iran

Trump has launched unauthorized military strikes on Iran, dragging the United States into yet another war without approval from Congress. This reckless escalation is putting U.S. servicemembers, Ameri...

SCL doesn’t ask the public if we want safe transmission lines. SPU doesn’t ask the public if we want safe watermains. Boeing Field doesn’t ask the public if we want a safe runway. WSDOT doesn’t ask the public if we want safe bridges. Why does SDOT put safe streets up for debate?

The thing that jumps out at me here is the idea that SDOT taking an idea to the Alliance for Pioneer Square and them not liking it should be an automatic veto, and the department going to the preservation board over their objection is the city "not listening."

Take his personal army away from him while you can, you stupid, stupid assholes. You’re like an armadillo playing dead in the middle of the road so the semi won’t hurt you
