The buff-tip moth (Phalera bucephala) has mastered a very particular kind of camouflage. When they close their wings up, they resemble a broken twig. Native to large parts of Europe, there's regional pattern variation that reflects the local tree species. This one best resembles birch twigs?

Kukur Tihar/Kukur Puja is a part of a five-day Nepalese festival where people spoil dogs and adorn them with tilak paste and garlands. Dogs are seen as the messengers of Yama, the God of Death, guarding the underworld and guiding the spirits, which associate them with good luck. 1/2 #WyrdWednesday

the lessons we need to take are clear. Dolly said "find out who you are and do it on purpose", and Tim Curry's line is "don't dream it, be it" they would both be disappointed if we wrote that off as corny. so what? it's necessary. we have everything to lose if we are dishonest to ourselves.

Tim Curry and Dolly Parton have taught us not only that you should be bigger, weirder, gayer, and freakier, but also that those qualities are what people will love about you. The things that make you strange and amazing are the things that will resonate with other strange and amazing people

I think what’s important to remember about Dolly Parton’s philanthropy in the world of the wealthy is that she was a poor woman who became rich through talent rather than a rich guy who was born rich and got richer through failing up.

In his Second Discourse, Rousseau talks about how man was born free and able to live off the bountiful food that surrounded him in nature and then he was plucked from this state and introduced to society, where he was forced to labor. IG riverreachconstruction

THIS is my secular Holy Trinity because I'm of precisely the age where Dolly Parton, Bowie and Prince weren't just kick-ass artists but by merely existing as gloriously, unapologetically and triumphantly "wrong" as they were told everyone who didn't fit that there was a place for them to thrive too

Sad to announce that Dolly Parton is now on the same transcendent higher plane of existence as Bowie and Prince. www.theguardian.com/music/2026/a...
