Remember the global climate goal of no hotter than 1.5°C? Climate change plus a very powerful El Niño could lead to the first month with a global average temperature above 2°C early next year.

Cold records are vanishing. There are half as many as there would be without climate change. Heat records are occurring 4x more than you'd expect without greenhouse gas pollution.

Scientists have correctly projected the global average temperature rise for decades. The last 15 years have brought an acceleration (still within the projection range). Here's how temperatures have stacked up against model runs published in 2007.

Taught my nephew about rickrolling. He loves it and takes every opportunity to troll his parents, aunts and uncles, teachers, and friends' parents. My siblings and in-laws are unhappy but the meme is older than he is and it is now safe in the hands of the next generation.

We should be doing a lot more to both conserve fuel in the short term and to accelerate clean energy and electrification in response to the crisis. Solar, EVs and batteries can make a big dent in fossil fuels in a year, and that helps manage the crisis now.

An increasingly likely nightmare scenario for 2026: worsening fossil fuel and fertilizer crisis, combined with record global temperatures and drought. Fossil fuel dependence really doing a number on us.

I'm still shocked Rubio announced Operation Epic Fury is over, without achieving their war objectives: 1) no removal of enriched uranium/elim of Iran's nuclear program 2) no constraints on missile production 3) no end of funding for terrorists 4) no democratic regime change Epic Fury? Epic Failure.
