The first nuclear reactor on Earth was 2 billion years ago at what is now Gabon, where uranium deposits naturally sustained nuclear chain reactions

What will the Pentagon say? "We can win the campaign against the bond market from the air, sir"
Reporter on Bond Market: The yields have come back up since then. Have you talked to Bessent about another type of intervention.? Trump: The ultimate intervention is our military. And if we have to use that, we will.
My small British company was bought by Americans. I have just been formally reprimanded for sarcasm and sardonic commentary. I told the disciplinary panel I was grateful for the opportunity to reflect on my attitude going forward and would be certain to bear it in mind in future.
The #1 thing keeping the war going is the belief in Moscow that the West will eventually get bored, and then they'll be able to conquer the rest of Ukraine. And every single person making clear that they've got bored and want to stop supporting Ukraine is *by doing that* encouraging that view in R
Today is 18 years since Russia invaded Georgia. The West deterred us from invading anyone else by continuing work on Norstream 1 as if nothing happened and then arranging a "reset". We understood it to mean you didnt care. We understood you correctly.

#grafiekvandedag
A historic moment in Paris! For the first time ever, Ukrainian troops marched down the Champs-Élysées for Bastille Day celebrations. Even the skies joined in, featuring Ukrainian pilots flying in French Mirage fighter jets. A truly powerful symbol of European solidarity. 🇺🇦🇫🇷

De troepenopbouw van de Russen bij de grenzen met de Baltische staten hebben lang voor grote onrust gezorgd, maar die zorgen zijn inmiddels weggenomen door de Nederlandse inlichtendienst.

I'm so disillusioned, I almost don't even care who gets the FIFA Peace Prize next year
There's one flavor of GOOD accelerating change that few foresaw: All-in price declines in solar, wind and batteries relative to coal and gas. The energy transition is ON, and fossil-fuel wars are only accelerating it.
Remember the global climate goal of no hotter than 1.5°C? Climate change plus a very powerful El Niño could lead to the first month with a global average temperature above 2°C early next year.
Cold records are vanishing. There are half as many as there would be without climate change. Heat records are occurring 4x more than you'd expect without greenhouse gas pollution.
Scientists have correctly projected the global average temperature rise for decades. The last 15 years have brought an acceleration (still within the projection range). Here's how temperatures have stacked up against model runs published in 2007.
Sobering - despite record clean energy growth, global fossil fuel consumption increased in 2025. Even with the energy efficiency gain from using clean electricity, it looks like clean energy growth needs to double to push fossil fuels down.,
☀️ NEW | Renewables were the LARGEST source of global energy supply growth in 2025, for the first time outside a recession. Renewables grew by 10%, adding 3.3 exajoules to total energy supply in 2025. Solar alone delivered 71% of that rise. 🧵1/3 🔗 www.energyinst.org/statistical-...

Sneaking a giant screen into the flagshagger march is one of the funniest things @ledbydonkeys.org have ever done. "STAY HYDRATED" 😂🤣😂
We should be doing a lot more to both conserve fuel in the short term and to accelerate clean energy and electrification in response to the crisis. Solar, EVs and batteries can make a big dent in fossil fuels in a year, and that helps manage the crisis now.
An increasingly likely nightmare scenario for 2026: worsening fossil fuel and fertilizer crisis, combined with record global temperatures and drought. Fossil fuel dependence really doing a number on us.
I'm still shocked Rubio announced Operation Epic Fury is over, without achieving their war objectives: 1) no removal of enriched uranium/elim of Iran's nuclear program 2) no constraints on missile production 3) no end of funding for terrorists 4) no democratic regime change Epic Fury? Epic Failure.
