This is what is driving me nuts. So many posters around here keep haw-hawing about R’s in strawberry and clearly have NO idea that these are extremely powerful machines *already* that we have not yet figured out how to utilize fully. If we stopped development today, they’d still be astonishing

I am still very disappointed that Canada didn't change its electoral system (multiparty parliamentary but still first past the post) when there was genuine public and multi-party support and momentum, effectively killed by the Liberal Party.

For our mega-survey on populist attitudes, we asked whether people would prefer a more multi-party system or a two-party system. The former blew the latter out of the water. Asked about specific reforms to get there, people are less sure. Also, Trump populists are the most fond of the status quo.

Gerald Butts recently made this point on Substack. Alberta’s governance history is now a wingnut-conservative-wingnut sandwich, with a thin wedge of NDP cheese. Kind of puts into perspective what a gargantuan task progressives have in the province.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I fail to find the efficiency in having two people (attendant and I assume a teleoperator) and an Optimus robot to hand out water, which could be accomplished by a glass front fridge.
