The thing you need to understand is that there are 2 (TWO) different method for amending the constitution 1) The process laid out in the constititon itself (conventions, or 2/3's of both houses followed by 3/4 of states ratifying) OR 2) find five votes on the Supreme Court.

It is true that this is a beautiful pluralistic country with everything good you could ever possibly want in the world and also a corrupt stinking hell hole presided over by demons who want us all dead.

Musk functionally ran the US government for 6 months last year and managed to: increase spending, slash services, kill 100,000s, and help nurture both Ebola & Screwworms. Yet somehow no one mentions this when they talk about the company he is going to take public this week.

After having seen STAR WARS 500 times as a kid, I remember having my mind blown learning that the entire "the death star is about to blow up the rebel base as its being attacked" beat of the ending was invented in the editing room using outtakes and ADR. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

As a guy with half a trillion dollars, I have lots of options: 1. Enjoy a 100% stress-free life doing whatever I please in unfathomable luxury all over the world with people of my choosing 2. Have 87 meltdowns a day on a website

I wish I didn’t know as much about the end of Reconstruction as I do. If you understood what is being unleashed now, how it will touch every aspect of our civic life, and how difficult it will be to undo it, you wouldn’t be able to think about anything else.

Sometimes people get confused about tensions between majority rule and minority rights Majority rule as almost always been helpful for rights for racial, religious, gender etc minorities The minorities that the Constitution tends to protect are geographic (small states, rural) and capital

5 out of the 6 Supreme Court Justices who gutted the Voting Rights Act were nominated by a president who came into office having lost the popular vote. 70% of Americans support the John Lewis VRA. The Supreme Court is historically unpopular. It is not a democratically legitimate institution.

Cannot stress enough that what's happening now and will accelerate over next few weeks is a big spike in fuel costs paid for by every American that will flow *directly* into insane, unprecedented profits for American oil companies. They're going to be the big winners of this.

It’s kind of astonishing how many news outlets have published versions of a “Tucker Carlson apologized for telling people to support Trump” story by writers who very clearly did not listen to the podcast.

I think it is clear that one aspect of the US mismanagement of the war and now the negotiations is simply racism. They can't understand the way that they were outmaneuvered. And they can't accept it.

In my observation, this is the modal Christian right defense of Trump's deranged statements. It's not "Hell yeah! Get 'em Trump!" More often it's an attempt to ease their consciences by framing it as a false choice: "It's either Trump or [imagined persecution of Christianity]. What else could I do?"
