@jtkantor.bsky.social! Greetings from Bleacher 39! This might be a challenge, but how about a little Shellac in honor of the much-missed Steve Albini’s birthday?

My latest for The New York Times: a look at the life & legacy of the late great D. Boon. Visited San Pedro to talk to the surviving Minutemen, Mike Watt and George Hurley, as they continue to carry forward the spirit of Boon and the band. Gift link here: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/26/a...

The Washington State University Cougar Marching Band freakin' played Trogdor at their halftime show this weekend! And made ME! My husky head finally gets its due! 50 freakin' yards high man!
Listen to the wise Mr. @michaelazerrad.bsky.social. Jenn is a real one, and her new Flock of Dimes LP (on @subpop.bsky.social) is phenomenal. I caught her with her current FoD backing band last night in Somerville, MA, and the sold-out show was deeply moving. Not to be missed.
Michael Azerrad@michaelazerrad.bsky.social · 11mo agoJenn Wasner (Flock of Dimes, ex-Wye Oak) is a powerful songwriter, great musician, soulful singer—but best of all, she's a master of the ineffable. And that's what I'm in it for: the feels that can't be put into words. New FoD album is exquisite. On tour now and in December. flockofdimes.com#Tour

Oh no. What a legend. All living X-Men fans have been affected by his X-Factor run in some way, whether by reading the books themselves or through osmosis, via their impact on the universe at large.

the Signal fiasco is a good reminder that while these people are destructive, and cruel, and bigoted, and petty they are also really, really stupid
I've seen Ratboys play six unreleased songs from their upcoming new album over three shows the past few months, and even if all the other songs suck it'll be on lots of end of year lists. Five reposts (modest goal, but would be five more than 99% of my posts get 🫠) and I'll post a thread of them.
This is what being an ally looks like. Thank you, @keating.house.gov.

The moment I realized, I apologized and made sure not to do it again. Rep Keith Self did this on purpose. He meant to be hurtful.

Becky Burke of Book Island (a picture book publisher in the UK founded by my fellow Tokarczuk translator Greet Pauwelijn) was "detained" by ICE at the Canadian border on 2/28. Her father asked that her story be shared in case someone can help her. He writes:
