To be explicit: this a dude who puts his own ego before anything else. He believes his job is to stroke his ego. Coworkers dread trying to discuss something with him. Bosses dread trying to get him to be a team player or collaborate. Clients dread how long deliverables take with him leading them.
This is actually a very good way to weed out the people you wouldn't want to work with for a variety of reasons

When I was a kid there was this whole freakout about Wikipedia and using the internet for research. Teachers would warn us against it, say it’s not accurate enough. Now people who make their living distributing knowledge on the internet are doing that with AI. Epistemic ladder-pullers.

a huge chunk of the top talent IN AMERICA is first- or second-generation and from china. the only reason china doesn't completely dominate us here is that american immigration policy is very good at stealing their best research staff. it's a good thing nobody's changing that!
"is AI conscious" is a way less interesting question to me than "precisely which human cognitive functions can be offloaded to silicon & scaled" because the first feels like a language game & the second is actually being answered in interesting ways
