Aside from the moon landings (which I was generally obsessed with so it didn't feel like history), the first proper news story I remember was Nixon resigning because my friend's dad made us watch it. He said it was important and we'd always remember it. I guess he was right!

I suppose it depends on the definition of child (I read 1984 at 13 and that definitely had a huge impact but 13 is perhaps a bit old for this criterion). Possibly The Tombs of Atuan by Ursula le Guin. By far my favourite of the Earthsea books as the central protagonist was a complex girl.

I live w/ multiple conditions inc severe M.E., refractory epilepsy, severe refractory CVS, severe refractory insomnia, a CTD which causes a lot of pain & dislocations, and dysautonomic crises. I spend a lot of time in hospital & bed. My needs are expensive & I can’t always afford them.

Have noticed people being told to “ask AI” cropping up a few times recently. For me it really has the same vibe as a fervent Christian telling people to pray.

Guys. One of my biggest bugbears on Twitter was people replying to my QT engagement bait responses. I’m not the one asking the question, I don’t care. QT yours with the og post, don’t reply to me, I know it sounds cunty but it drives me bonkers. Many thank.

Self-pity is the last refuge of the the narcissist. If everything starts going obviously wrong for them, they have nowhere else to go. Most of Farage's recent speeches are absolutely dripping with it.

But also “funless mind”, sadly.

Just noticed that “mindfulness” is an anagram of “mindless fun”.

The nerve of calling artists and writers gatekeepers. We are the ones who live our LIVES around "that's too weird, too non-commercial, too focused on [minority], too like the thing we produced one of five years ago." The "gate" that we are keeping? Literally just "Do the actual fucking work."
