we were out this weekend again door knocking for our candidate @laurenbirdgreen.bsky.social getting the word out about the upcoming by-election on October 8th. we heard our neighbours thoughts and concerns regarding the Midstocket and Rosemount area and how we would help tackle them.

It's been a busy weekend for us in Aberdeen! On Saturday, we were at Envirolution, discussing the derelict building around the city, and on Sunday, we had our campaign launch for the Midstocket & Rosemount By-Election with our candidate Lauren! 💚💚💚
I am proud to have Lauren as our candidate for the Midstocket and Rosemount By-Election, she is a deeply caring person who I believe will make Aberdeen a better place to live if elected

I'm so incredibly disappointed that the Scottish Government have failed to commit to bringing Scottish legislation to ban conversion practices here. It feels extremely cowardly. But we won't give up: we'll find a way to make sure everyone is properly protected from these harmful practices
Scotland needs a watertight ban on cruel and abusive conversion practices. Today, the SNP has further delayed this ban, instead relying on the UK Government to introduce a watered-down version that might not even affect Scotland. Greens are demanding the SNP act now to protect LGBTQ+ people.
Just yesterday our branch members were around Torry delivering our Green News leaflets! We are doing our part to bring the best public transport and to fight for renter's rights across the City & Shire!
The SNP have long promised a ban on cruel conversion practices, but time and again they have delayed. We can't wait for, or trust Westminster to deliver a watertight ban on these abusive practices; we need a Scotland-specific ban now.
Mild quibble with Zack...but going the right direction. Energy prices won't go down with renewables, energy production costs will. The only way to actively bring down energy prices is to make Energy publicly owned. No more Ofgem, Ofcom, Ofwat or other handmaidens of neo-liberal decline.

We can end Rip Off Britain by making different choices.
This is something that is vastly important to many people across Scotland. In Aberdeen, we want to give more support to parents, we want to use community centres to give children of all ages somewhere to learn, develop, and play outside of an education setting, we want every child to be happy.

Key thing here is that there is the council saying "we should be inclusive", while some cranks with media influence are saying "no, the council should help enforce strict gender roles". I'm quite happy that a governing body refuses to capitulate to the female body inspectors of the far right.

Our lovely branch members have been out and about delivering our Green News leaflets this past weekend. We want to deliver positives changes to Aberdeen City & Shire from more and better public transport links, to safer, community driven energy storage.
This will be nice for some, but given the cost of existing sleeper services, I can’t imagine this costing less than fifty gorillian pounds each way. Is this why Stephen Flynn keeps fobbing off Glasgow bus campaigners? Too busy brainstorming bigger and shinier projects?

I've had my fair experience of bad studies. This one though... This one really takes the cake and stuffs it down your throat. Bad, misleading data is the calling card of fascism and should further bury the reputation of anyone involved.
From the West Highland Way to local routes, paths keep our communities connected. But too many have been left to deteriorate, becoming muddy, inaccessible and even unsafe. We're calling for a new fund to protect and expand our network to ensure everyone can experience Scotland safely.
Following on from last night's meeting on military funding this really sucks. Instead of funding to learn more about different cultures, places, and time periods, we're funding new and 'better' ways to kill them.

For many LGBT folk like me, and especially trans folk, Keir Starmer will be remembered in the same way as Margaret Thatcher: with deep contempt for having overseen a deeply hostile, queerphobic government, which rolled back human rights and set society back by at least a decade. Good riddance.
