I think we need to stop asking residents in detached homes if they want apartments on their streets, and start asking people in apartment buildings on arterials if they would prefer if they could live on quiet residential streets

Pretending that opposition to the UBC Skytrain is rooted in anything other than class privilege and exclusion is allowing yourself to be gaslit.

I went on Denis's walking tour two years ago, and it totally transit-pilled me. It really opened my eyes to how transit is treated as an afterthought instead of a priority. Now I get to help host it! Come through! 😁

Can we Make Downtown Bus Routes Better? with @chellers.bsky.social Cities similar to Vancouver are taking big steps to transform their downtown cores. Seattle has bus lanes on many major streets. New York's buses automatically issue tickets to cars that illegally use the lane.

That section of Hastings already sees upwards of 40 buses per direction per hour in the AM peak by the way. How does that rank in the region for corridor sections with no transit priority? (and no, 2+ HOV lanes most definitely do not count as transit priority)

I was out in the Burke Mountain area of Coquitlam yesterday and couldn't help but feel that an environmental crime was committed here. This is a direct downstream consequence of Vancouver's failure to allow housing and Metro Vancouver's disastrous regional planning that promotes greenfield sprawl.

"The increasing price of gas places a burden on workers. Government has an opportunity to help alleviate that burden by allowing workers the flexibility to work from home. This move would help reduce emissions and congestion.” YES, AND... It's almost as if stronger public transit could help here.

This is my first time on a modern urban gondola. It affected me far more than I expected. All you hear are children laughing, roosters, dogs, and the rush of wind. It is so peaceful, and overwhelming. The vents give you a great breeze. The highway reminds you how loud cars are.

This is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen. Context: 400 year backlog of sidewalk maintenance. Ever-decreasing road quality.
