Remember that by killing the Villages Plan, Sean, ABC, & "Green" Pete Fry scuttled Complete Communities, an essential Big Move of the Climate Emergency Action Plan. 1000s will commute in cars from exurbs & fossil gas will heat more homes, regardless of what CoV rules say.

Can’t get this story out of my head. The delays aren’t unusual, the cost comes out at $100k per unit or ~$400/month rent for those non-market homes. Same issues come up for market housing, developers could keep building at lower rents if munis did not impose those delays and uncertainty.

All we want is a properly funded RIPTA to restore last year’s cuts. How can Rhode Island transit riders keep trusting @govdanmckee.bsky.social when his administration justified those cuts as “taxpayer savings”? We’re tired of having to beg for basic services each year before any action is taken. 😪🚌

I think the conspiracy is comforting to people -- "a few bad guys did this." The reality -- "electeds, planners, and most of the public believed that the car was the future and rail transit was outdated" is actually more unsettling since it raises the question of what we're getting wrong now.

The only parts of Toronto's transit system that are "at capacity" are pieces of the bus network in suburban areas where they feed into the subway and where the solutions to the capacity problem are the easiest. There's nowhere in Toronto that should turn away development because of transit.

Recently had to explain to a professional from outside Toronto, that the vast majority of downtown Toronto workers commute by bike, walking, or transit. Some drive, but they are the minority. Perhaps I should show them these bike share stations…

We are getting less locomotives (45 not 57) for roughly four times the price (the Kiwis paid about 300m CAD). The fact that this isn't a major news item is crazy.

Good news! A retired city planner and former city councillor says housing prices are down so the housing crisis in Vancouver is over. Whew!
I just drove past this absolutely massive WSDOT to widen I90 west of Cle Elum. I find it hilarious that these tree folks are all crickets for such projects, but should someone dare cut back a tree to build an ADU inside the city, the guns be a-blazin'
