Yes, this has been a historic wave election. But I know that they and many, many other people in Texas have been building toward this, brick by brick, voter by voter, putting their own lives on the line to bring us here.

Yesterday, voters made it very clear that they want a new generation of Democratic fighters. We need a leader in the Senate who is capable of leading that fight. It’s time for Senate Democrats to choose new leadership.

(around an image of Senator Schumer) IT’S TIME FOR NEW LEADERSHIP IN THE SENATE.

NO SCHUMER CORONATION

This thread, I think, makes a good distinction. The conduct of the Trump administration is no longer surprising or shocking, but it still does, and should, shock the conscience: a phrase that refers not to the unexpectedness, but the brazen cruelty of the actions.

Obviously the feds lie a lot no matter who is president but holy shit if it was at like an 8 before the trump Vance era has dialed it up to an 18 at least. I know u know this but: it is absurd the sheer degree that “assume their statements false until proven otherwise” is just standard operating…

I have seen a couple people suggest in the Anthropic settlement that you should try to get the publisher’s share back from the publisher once it has been sent through one mechanism or another, and I feel it incumbent upon me to remind everyone.

And any democrat who concedes on this point and acts like covid wasn't a horrifying traumatic event worthy of a response every bit as energetic (but hopefully less stupid and disastrous) as the war on terror? They are my god damn enemy.

COVID was killing more people than died on 9/11 DAILY for a bit there, and there is no need to rank tragedy. But we were looking at freezer trucks full of bodies in NYC and mass graves. We have got to stop downplaying the trauma of what we all went through, especially when it's STILL DISABLING US.

And note, this is our body's reaction to us doing *normal everyday things*. Like riding in a car, then in a wheelchair, talking to a doctor briefly, back home - currently means PEM for 2-4 days for me. Taking a work video meeting for longer than my current energy envelope. Being upright too long.

This is a good and accurate mini-thread that also reminds me of an experience I had in my 20s that has stuck with me ever since. I was part of a three-person panel interviewing web programmers for a gig. All three of us were white and very genuinely progressive and anti-Republican. 1/

I think a good way to think about the current moment is understanding white supremacy as a spectrum with passive acceptance as the status quo out to actively arguing for global genocide.

Lynne Freeman got a write up in the fucking New Yorker to turn people against Tracy Wolff and it absolutely fucking sucks that all the people who read that salacious piece will never know that Lynne Freeman lied to the court, conducted this litigation in bad faith, and had absolutely zero case.

A bit more on the STARLOG relaunch, and my role as editor-in-chief. Originally STARLOG begat FANGORIA back in the 20th century, but then they died. But we kept making our death saves! FANGO was resurrected by a demon (long story) and she finally brought STARLOG back online in her basement lab. (1/3)

Everybody who believes systemic racism doesn't exist should be made to play a Monopoly game where the 3rd and 4th side properties (i.e., Kentucky Avenue to Boardwalk) have already been distributed to other players before the game starts, and then just play it "by the rules" from that point forward.
