This is genocidal rhetoric from the president of the United States. Trump explicitly stated that if Dems win the midterms, “Transgender will never end.” The stated goal of the president of the United States and his party is to make transgender people “end.”

Someday soon hes going to be over and trans folk will continue to exist and, hopefully, thrive, for as long as there are humans on this planet.

It’s this Sartre quote - Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves,

Lmaooooooooooo what is wrong with whoever Bouie is talking to? This is a well-established fact. Everybody knows this. “Woke” has meant “stay woke” for Black people for generations prior to the present day “woke.” Like that’s just a historical fact, why would you feel the need to gloss over it?

this is a pretty wild exchange with someone seemingly in a moderator position

Bouie: Sure. Before I do, I want to say two things, just to establish them right now and kind of to say where I stand on some of this stuff. The first thing is: "Woke" is a term that comes from African American vernacular. It has its origins in the 1930s, and it has traditionally meant something along the lines of: Be aware of the ways that this society is not built for you. Be aware of the ways that you may face disadvantage and oppression in this society. Again, this is a term that emerged in Black vernacular in the 1930s. And that is, as far as I'm concerned,
what the term means. And the usage — Cottle: You are exactly one of about 20
people who think that's what the term
means.
Bouie: I know.

100% this. It would be like saying that someone who didn't test the brake pedal and steering wheel in newly delivered cars were "failing to be kept under control" when driven, rather than that the manufacturer was incredibly reckless while building it with predictable results.

Journalists need to stop describing these incidents in terms implying software has agency and intent. It does not. The people who created a faulty and dangerous product are the ones responsible for whatever happens, and must be held to account, with punitive financial penalties for damage done.

If you want to know why people get touchy around the helmet discourse, this is it. Elected officials who do not know the difference between different classes of legal e-bikes and who also can't distinguish them from illegal e-motos probably shouldn't also be writing bicycle helmet laws.

Central NJ Yimby 🏗️🚲🚇🇺🇸@princetonyimby.bsky.social · last wk.

New Jersey just passed a requirement for helmet use for all e-bikes, including those limited to 20 mph. I think it will be a stepping-stone to requiring helmets for all bicycles.

“We took the children off the roads. In 1971, 80% of seven and eight year olds got to school on their own. By 1990 it was 9%, and the fall has not stopped: more children are driven than ever, and cycling to school still barely registers. We did not defeat the danger. We surrendered to it.”

A cycling city isn’t really about bikes. It’s a fairer city, built around people instead of cars. Had to ghost someone after a couple of successful dates, their Dad popped up on my Facebook and he spends all day sharing AI slop about immigrants. Sorry, you were quite nice, but I'm not spending Christmas listening to that shit.

This is obviously 100% correct, but also it shows how the specific target of racism shifts over time - people on small boats, asylum-seekers generally, E.European workers, care workers, Albanians, Muslims - but it’s always, always a proxy for objections to any migration or racial diversity at all

I can't believe the amount of recent history revisionism in the UK. Response to Polish immigration was so severe that it successfully led to Brexit. BREXIT. And tanked British economy. This happened last decade, you can just Google it.

Post on X Remember in early 2000s thousands of Polish men immigrated over to UK cause their economy crashed but no one said fuck all cause they came to work, minded their own buisness an left our kids alone.....

Response Most Poles who emigrated to the UK in the early 2000s remember something completely different and photo of xenophobic graffiti

For fucking years, people of every marginalization have yelled that a person is never just one kind of bigot. And now the Cofnas support letter, signed by notorious transphobes and sexual predators and eugenicists, proving their point once again. You'd think at some point people would listen.
