This White-rumped Sandpiper, that I encountered this morning, is one of two present at RSPB Snettisham in the past couple of days. #NorfolkBirding
OTD 40 yrs ago: This 1st for Britain; Red-necked Stint at Blacktoft. What started out as either un-ID’ed, and/or mis-ID’ed was eventually resolved, and seems so easy in hindsight. I remember RGM’s comment: “I went expecting a funny-looking Little Stint and saw a funny looking Robin.” #UKRareBirds

This afternoon I was able to enjoy my annual juvenile limosa 'fix' with 3 from west hide at Minsmere - one colour-ringed. Such superb birds #ukbirding #suffolkbirding
The influx of Quail has continued strongly over the last month. The latest weekly reporting rate of 2% is the highest recorded since BirdTrack began in 2004! #ukbirding
BirdTrack@birdtrack.bsky.social · 2mo agoCould it be a Quail year? We've seen a big increase in reports of this elusive migrant gamebird in the last two weeks. Reports don't usually peak until late June, so it will be interesting to see whether the influx continues into the summer #ukbirding

Spurn's first Marsh Tit since 2010 turned up yesterday, bearing a ring from Tophill Low Reservoir (less than 50km) where it fledged last May. I was fortunate enough to catch a few calls during its brief appearance in Kilnsea this morning #spurnbirds

Thankfully it spent a bit of time feeding in the channels and resting near the Weeton screen before heading towards the Humber, eventually lost from sight 21.00hrs #phonescoped
Bird of the day was this Wood Sandpiper that dropped onto Beacon Ponds this morning briefly, before slipping away unseen. Wader no’s building with couple of Golden Plover over the wetlands, 217 Barwits, 70 Knot, 15 Dunlin and 28 Grey Plover on the Humber off Warren lunchtime #phonescoped

Alan Curry@yellowbrow.bsky.social · 2mo agoPlenty of these perfectly attired American Golden Plovers were encountered as we searched for Bristle-thighed Curlews up on ‘Coffee Dome’. Unfortunately the curlews were not so confiding and only offered up vocal flight views. #Birding
Interesting acro trapped in the Crown Estate Field this mrng - suspect it's going to turn out to be a Blyth's Reed but certainly a pretty subtle one - plumage not too bad, decent biometrics, poor p4 emargination etc. No field views & no calls.

Miserable morning around Spurn, this Little Gull on Kilnsea Wetlands the highlight. Couple of hours in improved weather this evening on the Outstrays yielded a smart Curlew Sand’ (down from 5 y’day) in the diminishing wader flocks, a singing Quail and a flyover Hobby on the way home #phonescoped
