1/x Just FYI, for those who didn't know: The first head-on challenge to the US gov't's authority to ban queer marriage was in 1970. Less than 1 year after Stonewall, on May 8, 1970, James McConnell and Richard Baker got hitched and then, presumably, went home and boinked their brains out.

So the thing with those Patriot Front guys marching in force on Capitol Hill is that's ALL their force. Months, maybe years of planning, fundraising, coordinating their nationwide membership so they could project an intimidating image of inevitability and dominance of this historic anniversary.
I've said it before, & I'll say it again & again: When people have their first epistemic & ontological shocks— those shocks to what they thought they knew & thought was real— you have to guide them CAREFULLY to get them to move *Toward* prosocial consensus reality & *AWAY* from, e.g., conspiracism.
