Don’t get me wrong: we are humans, & humans sometimes contribute to our own pain. It happens. But t’s also the case that trauma tries to bully us into taking WAY more “responsibility” for our pain & dysfunction than is realistic or useful.

This may be superficial of me but I'm always a bit shocked that these "old dudes" are actually my age. I mean, I guess evil ages a person. Or I just look great for my age? Both? In my head these guys are at least a decade older.

The underlying ideology is that, on the one hand, poverty is simply insufficient aptitude with money and/or a lack of 'smarts'; and on the other, that wealth is necessarily a result of aptitude with money and/or 'smarts'. Cf. this Kurt Vonnegut quote. #auspol #poverty

PSA: Stop telling impoverished folks to get "better" with money. Saving money requires time and money to begin with. Many folks can't do certain money-saving "tips" because those require time...time spent working. Poverty is a cycle for a reason.
