I feel like this is a Vance op. No evidence but I'd wager sums that the final result is he endorses Vance when it matters most.
This feels like the very predictable outcome of Tucker Carlson's anti-Trump pivot: he's doing it to run in 2028.

This says almost exactly what I have been saying. I wasn't Skinners biggest fan, I have suggested more than once that he had taken us as far as he can, but if the owners won't invest in the squad who will want the managers job ?
Jim Ratcliffe's appalling treatment of Man Utd Women has finally hit home
Whatever fans think of Marc Skinner, his exit is a worrying nod towards a bleak future

2 United managers quit due to lack of investment & now it seems we are about to employ a new manager who quit her last job for exactly the same reason. This bothers me somewhat.

Aaron Rodgers spoke out about Dr. Anthony Fauci. Sophie Cunningham spoke out about transgender athletes. Caitlin Clark chose not to weigh in. Three different approaches, one common result: criticism. Steve Buckley on how athletes can't win on social media: nyti.ms/3Sa9A7D

This is rough but I think it talks about a lot of what is missing from the Cunningham/WNBA discourse. Namely, that trans people are not hypothetical thought experiments. They are real people who are being genocided by our government & any coverage that doesn't center that reality misses the mark.
I don’t think he was the right person to help Manchester United make the leap into the WSL’s top tier. But he also wasn’t really given a fair chance given the lack of investment by the club in the team.

Marc Skinner Wasn't Perfect, But Man Utd Have Far Bigger Problems | Opta Analyst
Marc Skinner reached an agreement with Man Utd to terminate his contract on Monday. How did it get to this, and will the Red Devils be better off for it?

“It’s not a different opinion. It’s straight up bigotry and discrimination that we wouldn’t accept or hand wave away if it were targeted towards any other group.”

It’s true, in the past I would have had multiple editors in my inbox asking me to write about the Cunningham stuff. I haven’t gotten a single assignment request. Trans writers used to be tokenized to write about these things but now that the topic is “mainstream,” those bylines go elsewhere.
I need people to understand that for the last half decade that there’s been an ecosystem of trans folks in sports media who have worked unpaid to serve as experts for context, sources and educators on what it’s like for trans athletes, in hopes of potential bylines and contacts. That’s dried up.
Frankie hits the nail on the head here. This is another act in the genocide of trans people that is taking place, and it is utterly disappointing that the WNBA is not standing up for what has always made WNBA games and fandom so joyful in order to appease bigots.

"It’s not a different opinion. It’s straight up bigotry ... that we wouldn’t accept or hand wave away if it were targeted towards any other group." Every cis person who follows me for WNBA content better read this. Pay for a sub, you owe the trans community that much & Frankie is a hell of a writer

Missouri Republicans tried to make voter-initiated constitutional amendments impossible by requiring passage in every congressional district instead of just statewide. Voters rejected the amendment in not just every congressional district but every county too. Trump won all but four counties there
NEW: Missouri voters have rejected Amendment 4, which Republicans had passed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments effectively impossible. It would have required initiatives to pass in every congressional district—not just statewide—giving the overwhelmingly red districts a veto
I'd suggest that if you can't even win your primary you're, by definition, not "electable" so I always find this sort of conversation to be rather ridiculous. They spent a year saying Trump wasn't "electable" for crying out loud.
Considering how badly Republican ballot measures targeting abortion rights, public education, independence of judiciary- are getting curb stomped in - checks notes - deep red states … there are gonna be relentless think pieces in DC media bubble about toxicity of MAGA/Trump Republican brand. Right?

They already did it to Jimmy Carter. Literally refused to release the hostages until Reagan was sworn in. How'd that work out for you, fellas? Point being, the Iranian government will cut themselves to make you bleed. Trump never figured that out, and I doubt he ever will.
updating my prior here: i think this back and forth will continue not just until the midterms, but until trump is gone entirely. iran would rather deal with someone rational and trump is cornered
maybe they're right but there really isn't any reason to believe that "moderates" - as defined by DC conventional wisdom - have an advantage in these places. And if lefty candidates do win they'll chalk it up to a "wave" - correctly, somewhat, but when moderates win in waves they are geniuses
president of Center for American Progress btw
Pretty sure when you win the election it's a big election night. Pretty sure when your party's leadership all endorses the loser, it means the leadership is out of touch with the electorate.
Progressives didn’t get the big election night they wanted
AP calls a DEFEAT for Kansas Amendment 1, which would have replaced the current merit-based selection of state Supreme Court justices with partisan statewide elections. GOP wanted this change to try to overturn a ruling protecting abortion rights, but voters emphatically said no.
Two more GOP amendments go down to crushing defeats, both in MO. #4 would have made future ballot initiatives impossible to pass by requiring winning a majority statewide *and* in each congressional district. #5 would have eliminated the state income tax.

Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.
I went to USSR in high school with a performing arts organization in 1990. I keep seeing parallels with the Trump admin and the Soviet government. Crony capitalism looks a LOT like communism in many ways. The corruption is part of the system.

Who on the fucking planet is even talking about Joe Biden running for the presidency again? Who cares about *his* mental capabilities in the year 2026? Only Whiskey Tony could think this is an important question that must, must, must be asked and answered. What an unbelievable clown.

I really can't count the number of times I've said to myself, "you'd have to be really stupid to fuck up a criminal case on which Norm Eisen was an attorney of record." It's like that old rule, "never argue with a man who buys ink by the barrel," only with lawsuits.
