GenX. Former Texan in Denver. Sometimes cranky.

its very telling that the mainstream media narrative is that dsa has wacky and unreasonable positions when the republican party position is that abortion should be banned, latino families should be put in concentration camps, black people should be shot by cops and transgender people shouldnt exist

Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.

It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

The downside of solar porch lights that turn on dusk to dawn is that you've created a bug feast for every spider in your yard and they will leave behind the webs as proof. Thinking of getting a shop vac to handle it at this point.

I didn't leave Texas only because of the politics but also because I was tired of my face swelling shut from pollen and it was too fucking hot too much of the time. I only miss three things: excellent TexMex; some people; bigass thunderstorms.

i am a cis straight white woman does that mean anything here. do i need to pull that card to get my rage across. defend trans women and trans people, it is literally your purpose, and this is SIGNIFICANTLY NOT DEFENDING ANYONE but CRUMPLING in the face of rich and powerful bigots

Yes I was a latchkey kid and was taught to cook to feed myself after school. I want to push back against this narrative that this was fine and a good way to treat children, it was not!

I am extremely sympathetic to the idea that our world is not designed for people with ADHD and we could make the world more accessible. But I have done everything I can to set up my world to be as great as possible for my brain, and sometimes it really just is a pain in the ass.

In the last 10 years I just stopped reading or caring about or watching media that focused solely on men with women absent or unimportant. No matter how high-quality. Because at this point, I have Been There Done That, life is short, and I am going to use my remaining time on other stories.

I like that we're all workshopping speeches and poems to recite on airplanes. But also I feel like a group of theatre kids could really kill here. Soliloquies, show tunes, the field is wide open. It's not like they need much encouragement.
