AuDHD hermit living in Aotearoa NZ 🇳🇿 I hyperfixate on politics far too much for my general wellbeing. Other than that, movies/games/books/my cats are my reason for living.

How grim is this!?! Seymour's shitty lunches, made in Australia, were unsurprisingly shit and mostly inedible and instead of fixing that, this shit-for-brains-idiotic-govt thought adding sugar filled sauces would fix it (and only didn't because it would've cost too much). FFS. #nzpol

As schools reported throwing out nearly one in three Compass lunches late last year, the Ministry of Education looked into adding sauce to make the meals more appealing but shelved the idea over cost.

Point taken Andrew, but my study of the Hansard from 2024 onwards is a clear record of how Winston Peters, far more than any other MP, is responsible for the decline in the standards of the House, which ironically he so often decries. The Speaker appears to be complicit in enabling this. #nzpol

Forget heatwaves in many parts of the world, wildfires in Spain, Simon Court of the Act Party, self professed practical environmentalist, calls Wellington's recent bit of snow "a sign that maybe the climate emergency is over" #nzpol

People who are on welfare contribute, while they're on welfare, after they're on welfare, if they go back on welfare, if they need it for life. They contribute to their community, friends, family, and those who love them. They are part of us. Associating someone's value to work is a narrow-minded

UGH any opportunity to shit on welfare. To him if you're on welfare, you contribute nothing, if you can't work, you must just be a leech who brings nothing to society. Also if they need multiple jobs you've failed as a society, you've failed as a government.

He also repeated previous comments backing migrants, saying they came to New Zealand leaving everything behind and worked "really hard, they take one job, they take two jobs, three jobs to get a deposit for a house or a business ... they don't go on welfare, and they get their kids and they wake up every day and get them to school".

This explanation is stupid. Is Luxon saying that this racism would be okay if Winston was in those countries? Racism isn't okay, no matter the state of immigration. And we remember your dog whistling about social cohesion months ago. #nzpol

"He may think he's Nigel Farage and Marine Le Pen and Pauline Hanson and Donald Trump, but ... we have legal immigration in this country."

DYING to block young people from the internet and require age verification tech across all platforms. But not DYING to develop online safety regulations that would actually help change online environments for the better. Let's talk about what Luxon had to say 🧵 #nzpol

Older lady peeped the rainbow flag on my bike, asked in a thick Russian accent “It’s your Pride?” She told me her youngest grandchild is “not she berry or he berry but no berry.” I said “Nonbinary?” She got so excited. Yes! Yes! And “Is a secret, but they are my“ *looks around, whispers* “favorite.”

It’s interesting for National to be swiping the Greens solar policy as an election policy when the Greens would support it through the house next week. Meanwhile this term National has failed to deliver on its EV charging stations election promises and is decimating the capacity of local government.
