Software engineer, video game enthusiast, guinea pig owner, exiled Californian, anti-fascist. Pronouns he/him, or "that nerd" if you went to school with me.

One, this hilariously outs who all got the talking points in advance and how blatantly they parrot those. Two, Schmitt really thought today he'd launch himself to the VP nomination and with that a decent shot at the presidency down the line. Instead this is the only thing he'll be remembered for.

If you want to really know how the outrage machine gets fired up: 1. Schmitt plans to drop “bombshell” on Smith 2. Someone plants story that Schmitt is a Vance VP contender to run same day 3. Right-wing Twittersphere gets talking points 4. Schmitt steps in it 5. Scheduled tweets go out anyway

Jack Smith: "History teaches that the rule of law is rarely destroyed all at once. It's often weakened by attacks on the institutions and the public servants sworn to uphold it. Since January 2025, we have witnessed precisely such an effort."

Araghchi, Iranian foreign minister, explains why US is untrustworthy: "In 2025 they offered negotiations, we accepted, then in the middle of negotiations they attacked us. Eight months later, again they offered negotiations, again we accepted, & again they attacked us in the middle of negotiations"

One side of this war has an elected legislature but it doesn't really have any power compared to the supreme leader and the council of guardian jurists, and the other is Iran.

I read today in an article in The Daily Beast that some military leaders have privately begun referring to Pete Hegseth with the nickname "No Tab Pete" and I nearly spit my drink out. I then realized that everyone should have the knowledge to appreciate this ruthless nickname. (thread)

There's no forgiving this. No living it down. It's a stain on our humanity. When all this is over, the monsters who did this should be pariahs. And the soulless thugs who cheered it on while dehumanizing Haitian immigrants should be reminded of what they did every day of their lives.

The situation in Haiti is terrifying. On Sunday, 150 gunmen swept down on a town to kill, rape, loot, and burn. 22 people were executed in a churchyard. 52 were taken hostage. Stephen Miller mockingly says Haiti is safe and ICE just sent its second deportation flight this month; with kids on board.

Twelve years ago, jagoffs pretended to care about "ethics in video game journalism" and other jagoffs pretended to believe them. It worked so they didn't stop. We're tired of this game now, right? It's boring. It's insulting. From now on we go "lol no fuck off."

Today let's all, as a species, agree to stop pretending to believe that right-wing trolls and fascists are arguing in good faith. This will fix at least 50% of all problems immediately. Thank you!

Not going to lie, since his campaign office drama a few months ago I really haven't understood. Everything people seem to like? The stuff he says now. The bad stuff? Pretty much all his actions. He only has a personal voting record, not one like a state senator where we can scrutinize.
