Soz, tin foil hat time. I reckon all this school closure chat is to distract from that report that said ten billion pounds were wasted on PPE contracts.

This is like a three word review of what you’ll find in my house.
Never let the cynics and naysayers grind you down. You *can* have it all at once.
Right maths teachers. In #mathstoday I am planning a problem solving SoL for KS3 using one lesson per fortnight of our extra timetable time. Think ICCAMS/ NRich/ Improving Learning in Maths - that kind of vibe. I’m doing ok but have spare sessions. Hit me with your fave tasks please! RT 🙏🏻

Thought this might be worth a reshare for people having conversations with year 12s about university applications. A spreadsheet of UCAS data by STEM subject (tabs along bottom) showing published entry criteria, most common grade profile and lowest grades of students accepted on to the course. 1/2
Seeing a lot of “the heat only kills the elderly and those with existing conditions, stop complaining” and feeling a familiar sense of disappointment. I don’t know how to explain that you should care about people etc etc but also: we are all people and vulnerable.
Halfway through The Fifth Elephant (reading the Watch novels in order) and I think Detritus is becoming my favourite Discworld character. Him sticking up for Cheery made me tear up. I love him so much. 🥹
Been to the doctors and he had to look in the back of my throat. I TOOK MY GLASSES OFF. So embarrassing.
That Guardian 100 best books doesn't even have the best Hilary Mantel on it. Ridiculous.
Closes Tuesday! 🙌 It’s dead good here.
We’ve got a vacancy due to relocation. Years 9-13, great colleagues, approachable and sensible leadership, great location for Derby/Notts. We’re small and close-knit, but not in a cloying way! (It’s great.) 1/2 www.tes.com/jobs/vacancy...
Finishing up with Year 13 in #Mathstoday, looking at some slightly lesser spotted questions to do with integration and logarithms #Alevelmaths

Short stories are great. You can read one before breakfast.
Ta so much for short stories. I chuffing love them when I'm too busy, don't have enough brain space to keep up with reading a novel in 20 minute blocks, or just want to slip in a start to finish tale, and you do write them so well!
Oh yeah definitely the one thing sci fi and fantasy has been missing is the male gaze

Had to write about an imaginary culture where the social norms are different so I spaffed on about a society who communicate through dance because it’s about the only verb I could bloody conjugate. 🤡
Revising for a French written test I’ve got next week and I’m in that bargaining stage. ‘How badly can I do and still pass if I nail my speaking test?’
Used this lovely task from Underground Maths with year 12 today. I love that it has no calculating, it’s all reasoning. 🥰🙌 undergroundmathematics.org/calculus-mee... #MathsToday #ALevelMaths

Made this for year 12 to practice discernment with differentiation. Took far longer to plan and write than it did for them to do it, but hopefully it helps consolidate and make meaning between sentences and expressions/equations! #MathsToday #ALevelMaths
Wherever possible, I like to check for prerequisite knowledge in a meaningful way. Here's a simple one for completing the square.
