Here's an interesting one: S:P812R in a BA.3.2 from Western Australia—creates a furin cleavage site (FCS) in the S2' cleavage position S:685. The classic SARS-2 FCS is at S:682-685. Spike gets cleaved by furin there before it leaves the cell (usually). The S2' cleavage site is different... 1/4

Some progression on 58 kDa GBA as part of my work with @recon4imd.bsky.social. Combined tilted data (Glacios) with careful processing gives a ~4.0 Å map with clear secondary structure features. Still not the resolution that I need for variant studies but a step in the right direction! #CryoEM

Brl1 and Brr6 form ring-shaped, membrane-remodeling complexes that interact and bridge the nuclear envelope at NPC-assembly sites to mediate fusion. This pathway is conserved in humans via the metazoan fusogen CLCC1.
