A communist going up against Adam Smith is a bit on the nose.

Olympian, ideological liberal, partisan Democrat. Don't indulge your mental illnesses.
Harris: "We're going to be a joy movement" Leftists: "Actually joy is fascist neoliberalism. You must be unhappy."
Like a decade ago, I thought that, despite being a liberal, I would be uniquely situated to interact with marxists, because I have read quite a lot of Marx and I'm quite sympathetic to much of it. Sadly, I didn't account for the complication that marxists don't actually read Marx
MAGA, including MAHA are crashing and burning. We do not in fact have lend legitimacy to utter bullshit. The science is on our side, and while it will take some work to maintain and build public support, I believe this is a fight we can win.
There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
The ‘anti-corporate’ angle of this is so fucking dumb too; congratulations, you are lining the pockets of quacks and small time con men selling ‘alternative treatments’ instead of Big Pharma, how virtuous

And look, I'm just going to say it: antisemitism is doing to the US political left (not just leftists/DSA) right now, before our very eyes, what transphobia did to the British political left, and anyone who doesn't see it is choosing not to.
The most true thing I’ve learned about politics over the last decade is that people who revel in cruelty are untrustworthy allies of the left. If you follow someone who engages in and celebrates cruelty, even on social media, because you like their politics, they will betray you and those politics.
The reason you keep seeing your mutuals fighting over Will Stancil and it’s annoying you is that you’re trying to maintain contact with both the people who support public harassment and scapegoating and the people who can see that if they can do this to Will they can do this to any of us
Maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't remember people trying to push Harris right in October. Harris lost and that's a tragedy, but inventing people to get mad at is useless for evaluating the loss and learning appropriate lessons.
All to "fix" a made-up problem. At this point if you have a problem with immigration, you are either stupid, credulous, or evil. Destroying people's lives to placate the racist and ignorant.
“If immigration hadn't picked up my brother, my sister-in-law would still be alive, and the children wouldn't be going through this sorrow,” he said. “Unfortunately, immigration — the [U.S.] government — doesn't see that. It makes no difference to them.” www.stlpr.org/law-order/20...
the alternative to megacorporations is not "everybody works for themselves doing what they're passionate about." it's "you work for the local car dealer who's homophobic and fires people based on whether they sleep with him" corporations are the most powerful force in the world for diversity
I am *begging* people on here to think about “what does it actually take to do the thing I’m being anxious about” and if the answer is “huge collective action that is counter to 85% of domestic political opinion with HORRIFIC domestic consequences” you can probably stop there.
no, having moral standards is good actually, truth is good actually, believing in things is good actually, saying that truth and accountability is "so defeating" then we beat Trump for what? another group of lying, corrupt, amoral, woman abusing men to take over and lie and steal and abuse?
Can’t we just move forward, petty cancel culture is so defeating.
This might be sports emotions getting the better of me, but the Mariners are a bad team, and they should take advantage of the lack of teams selling, by selling at the deadline.
The vibecession is stronger in the rich than the poor.
The second strategic failure is that the American people (re)elected a worthless fucking moron like Donald Trump, who is boundlessly confident despite knowing nothing about anything and so asked the US military to do the impossible for no reason at all because he got lucky in Venezuela.
The errors here are all strategic and there are two of them: First, someone (Caine, it's Caine) needed to tell Trump, "if you order us to do this, we will try it, max effort, but it is impossible and we will fail to achieve it." He needed to say that *bluntly* and given the reporting, he did not.
Different states have different rules for filling senate vacancies, so I can understand why people would question a Democratic governor not looking into McConnel. However, we've been at this for weeks now, and prominent accounts (especially journalists) have had plenty of time to learn KYs rules.
I'm telling ya, a lot of Democrats think it's just MAGA that's uninformed. One of the benefits of Bluesky is that it demonstrates every day how uninformed so many Democrats are too.
I think a lot of anti-capitalists just resent working. Like work is in every system, sorry. And really, if not, you should hope for AI to replace all the jobs.
No one tells poor people "you're lying right now, the economy is good, stop lying", that is not a thing that happens. A bunch of people WANT that to be a thing that happens because then they could use it as a cudgel against what they're really mad at: more expensive doordash!
Yes, and even the Bush administration knew not to randomly start a war with Iran with no plan. Biden was the first President in decades to actually end a war and for his troubles he became "genocide Joe." Even if Harris were to exactly follow Biden's foreign policy the US would be much more ....
...Bush started a reckless war in Iraq that killed millions. Harris showed no signs of parting from the Biden administration on backing up Israeli policies of genocide and imperialism. Pretending she would act differently is based in fantasy, not her actual platform or prior actions.
Because her brain isn't leaking out of her ears like Trump. Not even Bush decided to recklessly start a war against Iran for no reason. To jump to the conclusion that Harris would is the most delusional thing I have ever read on this site. Honestly, I'm impressed.
She went along with the genocide in Gaza, why wouldn't she have gone along with the war on Iran? There's nothing to show she wouldn't have participated in that crime either, stop pretending like she was a transformational candidate.
Detroit is only around 15% white. El Sayed's minority outreach is strong.
I see dipshits on here all the time claiming Harris would have gone to war against Iran too. The important thing is that we never learn.
There was a lot of pushback after it became clear how much of a fuckup Bush was to the idea that electing Gore would have been better. The dumbest being the insistence that Gore would have also invaded Iraq — a line of argument that you still sometimes see pop up
It’s the fact that these people think they’re so savvy and tough and these lame Democrats are the useless idiots that gets me. Literally only upside for republicans!!!
It's always the folks who claim no one will ever want to vote for "Republican-Lite" who then tell us we need to be Republican-Lite for racism.
This is the exact same reason why leftists nationwide are feeling increasingly comfortable shunning black liberals entirely. "Black voters will never vote Republican anyway, so why should I bother appealing to them? They'll fall in line for anything, let's go chase the racists playing hard to get."
People will keep writing stories about what the Democrats have done wrong. You’re still not dissuading me from thinking the bigger problem might be us, the voters. The stakes, the consequences, have all been crystal clear.
Thankfully there are plenty of people who would love to immigrate to America. As long as you don't subscribe to racist/pseudoscientific ideals of race/ethnicity all of the potential problems of low birth rate are easily solved through immigration.
“Birthrates have fallen almost continuously for nearly 20 years,” Lyman Stone writes. “They have fallen through good economies and bad, through Republican administrations and Democratic ones, through every tax credit and child-care subsidy.”
Platner could have just become a standard grifter rather than trying to cost us a Senate seat.
