I was sunning by the pool when the boxes arrived. And here in my hand is my life’s work: “The Nerd Reich: Silicon Valley Fascism and the War On Democracy.” Coming 8/18. Pre-orders make a huge difference! Make a fascist sweat—pre-order today! www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Ne...
"… hinting at the presence of a giant planet about ten times as massive as Jupiter." I think I'm going to trust Randy and say this is still a Dyson Sphere: "Every thousand years / This metal sphere / Ten times the size of Jupiter / Floats just a few yards past the Earth." (Built to Spill)
For more than a decade, the strange light patterns emitted by “Tabby’s Star” have sparked speculation about alien megastructures and exotic natural explanations. The discovery of a giant planet is a new twist.
Declan Rice should have gotten a red and Mexico was denied at least two clear penalties. I don’t know how anyone can feel good about that.
With @darkhorse.com selling out and reprinting @evandorkin.bsky.social's Nerd Inferno (and don't forget last year's Beasts of Burden omnibus!), people should hunt down Hectic Planet. I put together a guide of sorts to help folks wade through the publication history. denmchenry.com/posts/hectic...

The problem with being a person who is good at something like content operations, is that if I do my job well, everything runs smoothly and my work is invisible. I'm not particularly career-minded, and just like things to be good, but I wish for this type of impact was more valued.
Neville Southall, affectionately known as Big Nev, played for Everton Football Club from 1981 to 1998, and is widely regarded as their greatest ever goalkeeper, and arguably the greatest goalkeeper of his era. Tools: Tombow Fudenosuke WS-BH brush pen, Copic N2 and N4 markers.
I drew Phil Elverum and he didn’t seem happy to have to stand still in my imagination for a whole 10 minutes. Sorry, Phil. denmchenry.com/drawings/phil/
Correction: Everton's landlord tried to start another club called Everton in retaliation when they moved over high rent. He wasn't permitted to use the name and settled on Liverpool. #ifYouknowYourHistory #efc #evertonFc #everton
I added a listing for @evandorkin.bsky.social's Nerd Inferno to the Open Library. Read it, love it, review it! openlibrary.org/books/OL6208...

friends, i think i'm losing it "He drove us all night to find my favorite constellation. You can only see it a few times a year and there are really only a few places you can see it." 🔭🧪 have i been wrong about how THE SKY works this whole time?!
another way to put this: if somebody says something, you don't directly engage with what they said Instead you turn to everybody else and say "ok let me tell you why they're saying this" instead of replying you're annotating

I decided to translate I am an AI Hater by @anthonymoser.com into Latin. This is something else a machine couldn't do (as attested by many terrible tattoos). denmchenry.com/posts/i-am-a...

We dont “receive and process information” from the environment. We experience and perceive the world because the way we function is through the transformation and exchange of physical material with the environment, an ability completely out of scope for computers and MATH.
I got all dressed up for the occasion. First we got Nerd Inferno from @evandorkin.bsky.social and now here comes the Land of Nod collection from @jstephenscomics.bsky.social and I couldn’t be happier.
It's launch day for Jay Stephen's The Land of Nod collection! Reprinting the entire Land of Nod saga in gorgeous red and black duotones, with the Sinister Horde, Jumbohead, Badman and Coxwell the Badly Drawn Ghost in full colour. Available in both hardcover and paperback at go.blackeye.ca/nod

I came up with the term Inclusive Front to mean the band of people who care about the web's inclusivity. It's a play on words; we largely work on the front end, but I feel at times we're also like a political 'popular front' against a poorly built web that excludes people. I've had stickers made!
@haymarketbooks.org Someone put the admin link in the sale banner at the top of the site so the link to the AFSC sale post doesn't work. www.haymarketbooks.org/admin/blog_p... should be www.haymarketbooks.org/blogs/543-af... There's also a mistaken second link that goes to one book only.
Because @ironspike.bsky.social quote post this with a great @evandorkin.bsky.social page, here's mine from @davidlapham.bsky.social. The last page of Stray Bullets: Sunshine & Roses #25, where Beth, Kretch and Spanish Scott finally get away to Santa Fe for some bonding time over peyote.
Original art collectors: show me a page of comics art from your collection! I’ll start: here’s a Rocky & Fumble page by Jaime Hernandez from an early issue of Love & Rockets.
This is strange. Please check your Bluesky settings on alt text and update. Mine definitely worked two days ago and was unchecked when I looked just now. Requiring alt text should be the default. Normalize accessibility.
Huh. If you had "require alt-text" enabled under Settings > Accessibility, check it. Because it may have been disabled. Mine was. If you didn't have "require alt-text" enabled before, consider it. It's a useful reminder to keep Bluesky accessible.
Is this a quirky copy of ex.mag 05 by @peow.bsky.social, or does this editorial note collide with this speech balloon in all copies? “Fix this page -red layer”
frame: anything goes if it's immigration enforcement negation: the government is not actually allowed to lie their way into a residence to kidnap people kirby: THEY'RE FASCISTS DOING FASCISM. laws are an expression of power, not the source of it
found myself considering a legal explainer about why the government can’t lie their way into a residence to kidnap someone and then was like wait why the fuck would I need to explain that
