Sorry but in what world has Trump been "intently focused on making sure Iran never had the nuclear fuel in hand to build a nuclear weapon," let alone for the last decade? He withdrew from the JCPOA to spite Obama, and because it was what every Republican wanted him to do.

I think people believe the point of progressive politics is to try to convince malicious, bad-faith bigots to not be violent, instead of defanging their movements and making them politically irrelevant. It's not about "saving the souls of the lost". It's about making sure their harm is mitigated.

It's worth keeping in mind that Kansas has a strict voter ID law, so this law has essentially instituted a poll tax on all trans people in the state because they have to pay to get their ID replaced.

The job of an op/ed page is not to only publish the "right" opinions. If a topic, policy, or decision is in the news / under discussion at the highest levels, the op/ed page at a national newspaper should be publishing pieces that make the case for that policy or decision. Even if the policy is bad!

We need to talk about the rise of "smol bean fascism" where you have all the guns and the immunity but the really scary people are the ones with whistles and phone cameras and they're giving you generational trauma and ptsd by filming you killing people for no reason

The reason people constantly suggest that Dems "adopt moderate social positions" (which... end up not being "moderate" at all) is because they think that Dems won't lose votes by moving to the right. They are wrong in thinking this.
