I've had my criticisms of the government, but this step by Labour - making it clear what the Greens have done has crossed a red line, & establishing a cordon sanitaire - is EXACTLY the right thing to do. I'd like to know why the Lib Dems haven't done the same. www.jewishnews.co.uk/labour-to-br...

Labour to break coalitions with any local Green party that does not disavow 'Zionism is Racism' motion - Jewish News

Local Labour groups have been instructed to write to their Green counterparts seeking clarity, giving them a week to respond

It seems indisputable that this is fact, and that Burnham has read intelligence service documents that have details. The public question shouldn’t be ‘what effect did it have?’ Because that cant be proved or litigated. It should be ‘why did Putin think Russia’s interests would be served by this?’

Jim Pickard@pickardje.bsky.social · 4d ago

I'm gobsmacked by ministers' failure to defend Burnham's claim about Russian interference in Brexit (and Tories' claim that he has no proof of it) when there were well-documented troll farms, funded by Russia, spewing out aggressive pro-Brexit attacks on social media at the time

It's the successful fight against Labour anti-Semitism that will be Keir Starmer's lasting legacy. He drove the racists out of Labour and the Greens welcomed them with open arms. Some of the politics of that played out in yesterday's by-election.

The gall of these people. The biggest brewer of cask ale in the world have done absolutely NOTHING to support cask ale in recent years, and then they say they need to close the brewery because volumes are down so much. Vandalism, pure and simple. www.foodmanufacture.co.uk/Article/2026...

Marston’s brewery to close as cask volumes nosedive

Carlsberg Britvic has announced it is proposing to close the Marston’s Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent amid dwindling cask ale volumes.

I think Kemi Badenoch gets a lot wrong, but she deserves credit for getting one big thing right: saying she won't unite with Reform. That's the right strategy for her party, and good news for the country. This must now be an unqualified, unbreakable commitment, not resiled from by any Conservative.

What I don’t get about The Greens, is they could be THE moral voice on THE issue of our time: the climate. It’s an existential question. and instead the Greens have decided to become a narrow and single issue cult.

It is important that the German Greens directly reject the UK Green Party’s resolution titled "Zionism is Racism" and welcome the suspension of its voting rights within the European Green Party. It‘s urgently necessary for the @europeangreens.eu to distance itself from the UK Green Party’s position.

Days after the attempt at mass murder of passengers & presumably large numbers on the ground, immediately derided as a false flag by the hard of thinking, today we have this policy from a party vying for govt which will stir up hatred and a statement saying don’t worry we will not tolerate racism.

An aspect of the game that's not obvious is that for a faithful, being open and banishing traitors ASAP is not a good strategy. We're tempted to think being a traitor is more fun, but not necessarily. A successful faithful gains more trust then they deserve—just like a successful traitor.

Richard Herring@herring1967.bsky.social · 2w ago

Arguably the best tactic for faithfuls is to keep a known traitor in as long as possible, so they don't get substituted and you can get rid of them at the end, increasing your chances of winning.

I appreciate that we need the full details of the latest apparent attempt to murder as many Jews as possible using a plane but if it turns out airlines can’t ensure their pilots aren’t dangerous assassins it rather rubbishes me putting little pots of liquid in clear plastic bags before boarding.

The Supreme Court has dismissed Quaye's appeal, finding that the legislation is compatible with the Convention. Unsurprisingly, the Court applies its usual "low intensity review" standard to the question of whether the impugned provisions breach Article 14 ECHR. supremecourt.uk/uploads/uksc...

On Tuesday 22 September the Supreme Court will hand down its decision in R (Quaye) v SOS for Justice, on whether s.128 of the Police Crime Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 is compatible with Articles 5, 7 and 14 ECHR www.supremecourt.uk/cases/uksc-2...

Wow. I'm not naive enough to be entirely surprised that this sort of thing can happen, but am still shocked. I know this is said all the time about all sort of offences and sentences, but I'm not sure 3 and a bit years is enough, considering the total betrayal of public trust here.
