hello, I am doing some research and would like to tap into the collective brains of BSKY: 1. can you share some genre or literary fiction magazines that have closed and the archive is NO LONGER ONLINE 2. the same but the archives remain online FOR NOW i would also appreciate RTs for awareness 💀

🧵 Attention, Fellow SFF Artists and Authors -- here is my response to Must Read Magazines, after they presented an Asimov's art contract expecting me to waive all Moral Rights and Copyright to my art. And, I would strongly advise the following to my fellow pros…. 1/

John Picacio’s response to Must Read Magazine’s request for his waiver of all Moral Rights and Copyright of his commissioned art for an ASIMOV’S assignment. Short version — Picacio says a resounding NOPE.

Really missing the rubber chicken we used to have, coz I'd be carrying it around with me everywhere. When some chucklehead starts up with the "what is a woman?? hurr hurrr" bullshit, I'd hold that bad boy aloft and declaim, "I don't know about that, but BEHOLD! A man!"

this october instead of donating to us, THE DEADLANDS we're asking you to please considering donating to help our #1 editor in chief @ecatherine.com with the bills stemming from her ongoing hospital stay. no coin fundraiser only fundraising Elise 🖤🖤 pls join us + spread the word

I don’t think I’m ever going to get the appeal of pivoting to video for podcasts. I’ve been listening to podcasts for 20 years, and never once have I thought, my God, I need to SEE these people! I’m on a walk or doing the dishes, I don’t need video.

It wasn't that he looked especially scary or anything, I was always a vampire-loving kid. It was that I had a pretty good understanding of the difference between real things and fake things on tv, but then they did a fancy ass dissolve that made the human DISAPPEAR and I was fucked.

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

I think the Auckland CRL has shown Kiwis love trains. And now the Greens step in and say “What about the CRL, but for the whole country?” And people, who remember love the CRL, are saying “Yes! Choo choo motherfucker!”, and hopefully choo choo motherfucker we shall. #nzpol

*blackadder theme* His head is bigger than a fence He breathes, and everything gets warmer His urge to trample represents A nation's nuclear war trauma Godzilla! Godzilla! The scourge of beast and man! Godzilla! Godzilla! He's flattening Japan!

I've been on the internet a very long time, and I've had more "what on god's green earth are you even talking about" moments in the last 2 years than in the previous 20. Just absolutely baffling non sequiturs, straw men, logical fallacies, malicious misconstructions, you name it. We are unwell.

As a kid, I thought Statler and Waldorf were critics who had to watch The Muppet Show for their job. Realizing that they were there by choice fundamentally altered my understanding of human nature. Anyway, hi-ho, social media!

So deeply honored I got to read an entry of Le Guin's blog. Baby-writer me with a copy of The Lathe of Heaven would be in disbelief (like I am currently)...

This week on In Your Spare Time, @cadwellturnbull.bsky.social reads post 23, "The Middle of What?" from May 2011. "The middle" of the title is the middle class. "But doesn’t a middle need the stuff it’s the middle of — the above, the below, the left, the right, the front, the back?" Ursula writes.

Iconic part of my childhood was watching the Carol Burnett show every week and watching the cast try not to break during moments like this. THIS moment? My entire family was on the floor, dying laughing. RIP Bob Mackie, who always understood the diva assignment.
