My neighbor in procument told me Iranians keep bombing his US-built planes so I asked how many planes he has and he said he just goes to the US and gets a new F-35 afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding F-35s to the Iranians and then his office mate started crying

A couple years after an Indiana state school hired me as a tenure-track assistant prof, the state passed a law that gutted tenure and required profs to both-sides any issue that might be considered political. We now have to sign "yes I both-sides'ed everything" statements each year.

Academia really needs a come to Jesus moment about what the point of a journal is. If it's the curation of new research, the current model is inefficient. If it's quality control, the current model is ineffective. If it's dissemination, the current model is suboptimal.
