Privacy, decentralization, freedom, the odd crypto post. Career CTO working on strategy and investments. ATProto is weird and I love it. https://numergent.com/
ATPProto: "repository data is public and anyone can read it" @wsocial.eu: "Hold my outrageously EC-overfunded beer"
Dear friends who don't speak German: Go to YouTube ASAP, turn on subtitles → autogenerated translation and watch this video! TL;DR: #WSocial is posting legal names, nationalities and approx. birthdays of verified users as a public record on the Atmosphere. Confronted, they claim it's "by design" 🤯
The W Privacy Slow-Mo Highway Pileup continues to accrete vehicles.

Holy yikes, nationality? Cool so now AfD and all the remigration freaks know who to target.

I'd seen some comments on the periphery of this without know the root. What in fuck's name is going on over there?!
Now THIS is how you write a story. Devastating.
whether or not ai is (in)directly to blame for this blunder, i'm becoming increasingly bullish on the idea that simply putting some care and consideration into the things you share is going to be such a differentiator as everyone lowers their standards in order to do more
Well done to the person in charge of Surface for doing a presentation where Surface wasn’t spelled correctly.
Enjoy it while it lasts, folks — in a few weeks this sort of replacement is likely to be a supermassive vector for undercover malware that's going to dwarf all the Kazaa-hosted cracked Windows apps put together.
Holy shit. Someone has decompiled the Adobe suite, rebuilt it in Rust and released it as open source. Either all software is dead or the US copyright laws are about to receive an update. getartcraft.com/apps
Opus 5.5 is much snappier now. I've yet to throw a major task at it, so I can't say about output quality, but at least the performance seems back to normal.
Opus performance has been continually degrading over the last weeks — both in output speed and general quality. Not sure if they are screwing around with feature flags, trying to cram more requests into the same hardware, or what; but Anthropic might just snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
For a couple of decades, the advise was to make your UI sketches as wireframe-y and far from finished-looking as possible. It both helped keep people focused on the concept overall, and to avoid conveying “doneness”. I hadn’t thought until now about how much that broke in the last year.
I don’t know how to explain to people that just because certain things appear to approximately work doesn’t mean they actually work. This was already horrifically difficult before AI and now it’s damn near impossible to get the point across when literally any trivial example passes muster
Also, when writing the kanji for words that use the same phoneme, like "gogo", why not use different kanji for each identical phoneme?
AfD Youth is posting about unification of German people. Belive them, when they say who they are. Not far right, not nazi like but actually exactly like nazis. P.S And yes, they are Putins favorite party in Germany
Working through the backlog of recordings, I'm very excited for this one to go live. @ricardo.bsky.social is so insightful, a little spicy, I always learn something when I get a chance to chat. Queue this one up for your weekend listening
A decentralized protocol upends everything we know about building for the internet, including how to build a business. @ricardo.bsky.social has some insights on the way forward. atproto.com/off-protocol...
The Latin American Switzerland, ladies and gentlemen.
Today Refugees International and Global Strategic Litigation Council published a report based on months of research and interviews with third country nationals removed by U.S. to Costa Rica. Have a read! www.refugeesinternational.org/reports-brie...
They really weet the bed with the naming here.

My barber recently found out he has a hereditary condition that makes him more likely to have high cholesterol, even with his good habits and health. It’s a recently discovered marker. Middle-class people have access to better (and better informed) healthcare now that royalty did 50 years ago.
i challenge you to post one optimistic take or belief today on bluesky this needn’t be toxic positivity, just good ol’ run of the mill optimism/hope in the face of a torrential downpour of doom
Anthropic may not have intended to write an excellent ad for GLM 5.3, but that's what they did. www.anthropic.com/research/glm... Unlike Mythos, I might actually have a chance at using GLM for defensive research. Anthropic didn't reply to any of my requests for Mythos access for use on OpenSSH.
GLM-5.3 and the spread of advanced cyber capabilities
GLM-5.3 can autonomously build end-to-end cyber exploits, but unlike other frontier models, it was released without meaningful safeguards to limit misuse.

I reported vulnerabilities to the Linux kernel and OpenZFS assisted by GLM-5.2. Anthropic's cyber program and refusal responses are detrimental to global information security. Defenders depend on GLM because they can't depend on Anthropic.
what they don't say is that our noble cyber warfighters, oh whoops sorry i mean "cyber defenders", could also just use these same open models to report vulnerabilities without Anthropic gatekeeping everything for their own financial gain
Anthropic is just directly fearmongering about the open weight models that are eating their lunch on price now huh

So basically the Fremen are Borg with proper cable management.
A sea change in the industry, and it's still Microsoft vs. Apple. As models reach parity, you either win the corporate buyer, or you win on ergonomics. For 95% of users, the defaults are the product — they'd better feel right. numergent.com/2026-09/Ergo...

Yeah a lot of people out here thinking that they're the Wizard in Fantasia and not Mickey. Also not realizing that they're in Fantasia.
I've said this before: anyone giving Zuckerberg content deserves exactly what happens with it.
Watch what you post because Threads just might pretend you're the guy who masturbated on the plane. What just happened to Peter Shankman is a warning for all of us using Meta products.

Fuck, now that’s a summary of our current times. I used to refer to the smartphone as a supercomputer, or carrying the world’s knowledge with you, but goddamn if a wannabe TV studio ain’t what most people use it for.
"Chayefsky had a lot to say about television, and he said it with an unflattering, searing bite—and it’s all the more relevant in an age when we each carry a television studio in our pockets and all dream of becoming a hit." www.liberalcurrents.com/network-at-5...
