Every time I see a writer post something positive about LLMs, or admit to using them, I literally fall out of my chair, wail in despair, and stab myself in the eye with a ballpoint pen. I don't want to know that these people exist.
I’m hiding inside with all my air purifiers on high, avoiding the apocalyptic Canadian smoke, while revising my WIP in which the future is actually kind of better. Hundreds of years from now, but still.

There’s a fabulous solution for this “problem,” which I explore in my forthcoming novel, Precious Children! It’s cloning rich people thousands of times! And absolutely nothing goes wrong.

Elizabeth Story @hyperbolictelly.bsky.social · 4mo agoI make this cover for an upcoming book where the creepy doll imagery is a metaphor for a dark capitalist cloning industry, and a week later my boss is like 'ok we acquired a new book. it's about a haunted doll.' ...so I've got two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

One silver lining of the age of AI is it’s outing incompetent attorneys right and left. So many recent cases like this. IMO it should be one and done. Disbarred.
Anna Bower@annabower.bsky.social · 5mo agoAn absolutely excruciating moment at the Georgia Supreme Court this week. Justice Peterson pressed state attorney Deborah Leslie over her citations to cases that apparently don’t exist.
This isn’t getting enough attention. Bad look for @sfwa.org. And a big deal for an organization that should know better. I’ve seen the jargon about committees & board decisions & 🙄, but the correct decision is credit the visual storytellers with the script writers. NOW. Not after losing credibility.
G. Willow Wilson@gwillow.me · 5mo agoAs a side-note, I realize the Nebulas are a writing-focused award, but in the case of comics and graphic novels, I really do feel strongly that artists should be named on the ballot. You wouldn't read my script by itself; it'd be like reading a technical manual.

So disappointed to see librarians continuing to attempt to steal from authors. We wrote the thing. We own our copyright. We get to license it per whatever contract terms we agree on. Libraries are a wonderful public service—they pay for the books so people can read for free. Books aren’t just free!
