I was up before dawn yesterday, with plenty of other volunteers, supporting the 2026 USAC Gravel Nationals in La Crescent, MN. An unbelievably beautiful and rewarding day, built on top of four years of planning and organizing behind the scenes. Quite the experience, but I'm ready for what's next.

for the automated accessibility checker that we're supposed to run our online class materials through for Title II accesibility, one of the errors it flags is "alt text too lengthy". Excuse me? It seems to want less than a single full sentence, like just a phrase

I’ve been an election volunteer in Wisconsin since 2020. I highly recommend it. If you can afford to take half the day off work, it’s the most rewarding civic duty you can do, and in a lot of localities it even pays a little bit.

"Fear City," (1984), the lurid Abel Ferrera slasher, is not a good movie but it surely is a lot of movie. Melanie Griffith is far better than the material! Also Tom Berenger, Billy Dee Williams, Rae Dawn Chong, Joe Santos, Michael Gazzo.

the thing that's puzzling to me about how Facebook makes revenue is . . . Meta Business Suite is horrible. Just the worst; glitchy, discombobulated, feels patched together by different dev teams. How does fb make money this way, and if this is their core, why aren't they investing money /here/?
