Could Cork City Council get its act together and provide a route to Tramore Valley Park from Ballyphehane? It's starting to feel personal. I had to drive to the park to get 2 kids there safely.

You sometimes see Government TDs pointing out that Ireland isn’t unique in the world in having a housing crisis. But this graph in today’s Financial Times shows just how extreme ours is compared to the places elsewhere, which also describe themselves as a in a housing crisis.

The share of young adults living with their parents is climbing in many countries and cities, with Ireland leading the way % of people aged 25-34 who live with their parents. National averages vs major regions [5 line graphs. Ireland’s is sharply above 40% since 2010. The rest show US, U.K., Canada and Australia. The next highest result is the US at just over 20%]

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces. Equals 10 nuclear reactors Reduces heat island, shades cars The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight. Why aren't we doing this?

Thanks Donal O'Keeffe and the Irish Examiner for reporting my comments on new plans to revamp Patrick's Street. We tried robot trees and learned from it: very clearly planting and seating in demand for the city centre. The new trial will transform the area around the junction with Winthrop Street.

If you ever see anyone arguing for more crackdowns on social welfare fraud, remind them that there is none to speak of and that, far from saving money, the last time they opened a tipline for SW fraud it *cost* the state approx €471,320 in wasted investigations.

Snapped this last time I was in CUH. This shed was almost full and there were lots more bikes locked up and scattered around the grounds. The need for proper bike facilities at hospitals is massive.
