I was back in Immigration Court this week, this time for the hearing of a sweet little three-year-old girl, I’ll call her Estrella. She’s been in federal custody, separated from her family for more than 10 months – even though her mom lives here in NYC. The cruelty is truly mind-boggling. 🧵

My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and— I said look. Look with your eyes! Oh now you’ve gone and touched it. The paint is peeling. My beautiful paint! I’ll have to call my pool guy back. Vandal! Antifa! I said look And despair Nothing but the algae remains.

The funniest thing about people who say that chromosomes are determinative of sex and gender is that 99.9% of them have no idea what their own chromosomes actually are and if they had them tested, a good number of them would suddenly have a problem. 🤷🫠

I'm here because my Jewish grandparents escaped the Holocaust. Many of our family were not so fortunate. NEVER AGAIN is supposed to include Iranians. And Palestinians. And Ukrainians. And on and on. There are no exceptions based on religion or country of origin.

Our NIH/CDC director spoke at 2 presidential rallies, and though he continues to speak at right wing rallies, his name isn’t even mentioned in this paper. Only critics of the MAGA/MAHA agenda can be “political.” Only we have free will and agency.

I’ve been warned that by engaging in politics, I might undermine myself as a scientist. Or worse, reduce the trust that people have in me or scientists as a whole. This latter point is the thesis of a recent article by Byron Hyde: link.springer.com/article/10.1... I disagree for multiple reasons.

For those who don't know this story, which I first shared six years ago today.... This one time I got my days wrong at work and ended up alone in a room with my boss and the President of Ireland while I was on ketamine. 🧵

If you gaze long at the moon, the moon also gazes back at you. It looks right back at each and every one of you fuckers. And it's taking notes.

Writing process: (1) “I have the best argument in the world”; (2) start writing, think “oh no, this is a terrible argument, I’m going to lose”; (3) keep writing, think “this is pretty good, I think we have a good chance”; (4) proofread multiple times; (5) file; (6) find typo.

The god of bad luck doesn't require much- just for you to rail at your string of stupidly bad cards or die rolls or whatever. In return, he will make your friend's brain cancer treatable.

It's like they read a book about the Gilded Age and thought, wow, we should do all of this again -- tariffs and trade wars, massive corporate power, white supremacy and immigration fights, a creepy sex panic and, of course, unlimited acts of brazen corruption and graft.

WELCH: Mr. Yoho is also the husband of your former spokesperson, Tricia McLaughlin? NOEM: Yes WELCH: So your former assistant and her husband are the ones that got the DHS no bid contract for $143m. Any dispute about that? NOEM: No.

They had NO FUCKING CLUE Iran would strike Arab states. That's probably why they were unprepared for strikes on Kuwait (AKA, next door to Iran). They probably didn't think through what retaliation would mean for Bahrain. Maybe they don't even know where KSA's Shia pop is.
