Our newest episode is out! Rodney & guest Damian reminisce about lessons learned on their past campaign successes, preventing cuts to buses and ION LRT service, and reinstating a late-night bus! Episode 5 - Advocacy wins and setbacks (with Damian) April 15, 2026 Advocacy matters and it can lead to wins even with losses elsewhere. We discuss the expansion of the R4 RapidBus in Metro Vancouver, the return of late-night bus service in Waterloo, Ontario, and a survey performed by Abacus around support for ALTO's high speed rail service between Toronto and Quebec City. Damian Mikhail is a Waterloo community organizer, deeply focused on activating young people in politics. Getting his start in municipal politics as founder and president of the University of Waterloo NDP Club, he spearheaded two student transit coalitions that protected Waterloo from cuts to off-peak Ion service and brought Night Transit to the city. i wish all the farmer reps coming out to say no to high speed rail realize they're saying yes to more car-dependent urban sprawl, new highways, and greenfield airports that eat even more farmland *and* cause ridiculous amounts of pollution and ecological damage. y'know, the primary threat to farms.

Edmonton's 4-year budget will be decided this year, and we want to make sure that City Council knows transit is important to Edmontonians. Go to engaged.edmonton.ca/budget to fill out the budget survey and attend an in-person budget engagement session in your ward throughout April

One nice thing about Line 5 is that the LRV doors close quite quickly, in ~3 seconds, vs. the ~5 seconds it takes for streetcar doors to close. To save time, the TTC should re-program the streetcar doors to close faster, which should be possible as they use closely related Alstom vehicles.
