Persistent and transient senescent cells contribute to brain-barrier development

Senescent cell states arise across brain-barrier cell types during development but diverge in duration and function. Endothelial cells and macrophages enter a transient, inflammatory state, whereas choroid plexus epithelial cells maintain a persistent, non-inflammatory state supporting long-term barrier function. These cells are required for brain-barrier formation and function.
