I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
SEEKING: QUEER COLLAB ZINEMAKERS I’m organizing a panel of collaborative zine makers for @queerzestzinefest.bsky.social on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 2pm Eastern. If you are a queer adult who has made a collab zine(s) and wants to be on the panel, please let me know ASAP!!
A recent print of mine is in this new free, 36-page zine edited by @juliesetele.bsky.social collecting international artists' antifascist responses to the 250th anniversary: juliesetele.com/2026/07/04/f...
Don't forget, Cabo Verde women will be in WAFCON at the end of this month. Support this footballing nation.
For the second year in a row, I’ve compiled an antifascist, anti-imperialist, anti-racist, globally collaborative zine to commemorate the Fourth of July (US Independence Day). This year is considered a special one because it’s the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence. …
Today (July 1) is the last day to submit to this zine!!
Last chance to submit to *F*** the 250th”. Deadline is July 1 (any time zone). Open to the whole world! This is an anti-imperialist, anti-racist, anti-fascist zine. If the government is going after antifascists, that’s because the government is fascist. Submit to fthefourthzine@gmail.com.

The first volume of ARTISTS! TO KNOW AND LOVE is here! Free to download/print/read at juliesetele.com! I encourage you to support living artists with your money when possible, but certainly with your likes, shares, and follows. Tell me: Who belongs in a future issue?
Happy Pride! F*** the 250th! I’d love for you to submit your work to this antifascist, antiracist, anti-imperialist zine! Deadline is July 1, 2026.
Call for submissions: “F*** the 250th” This fourth of July, the US is ostensibly celebrating its 250th anniversary — except for the whole rapidly-advancing-into-an-increasingly-fascist-state thing. Join with creatives from around the world as we share our original art and/or writing about what…
Happy Pride, y’all! Go Gays! Go Feminism! I’ll post a process video on Instagram shortly. I hope to be able to sell prints (at least to US and Canada) soon! I’ll keep you posted. #linocut #printmaking #feminism #rainbow #lgbtqia

AI facial recognition to check age of asylum seekers from next year
The Home Office says the tool will make it easier to identify adult migrants "attempting to game the system".

I’ve said it before and will say it a few more times. When Trump 2.0 came for accreditation I knew we had crossed into a different era of white reclamation. Precise, focused, stealth. Anyway, you probably don’t want these reforms.
The US Department of Education is currently overhauling federal accreditation rules for colleges & universities. The April 6, 2026, Proposed Changes to Initial Draft Regulations unacceptably seek to narrow & control what can be taught, learned, & researched on college & university campuses. 🧵 1
When I very briefly moved back home after studying abroad in Ireland, I got a job as a server at Frisch’s Big Boy. It was the turn of the century and I was working with the public while sporting a shaved head in semi-rural KY. My manager asked me if I was gay (which was definitely illegal for him…
@cactuscloudsart.bsky.social asked for a picture of all the stamps I carved. Here’s my best attempt! Note: the vast majority of these designs aren’t my originals. I got express permission from a number of artists and also copied clip art, citing all my sources and giving proper credit on instagram.
Or, as Ani DiFranco says in another song, “I am a patriot / I have been fighting the good fight.” Not pictured: lots of math and measuring; sanding and staining the linoleum block; shooing cats away from inky surfaces #linocut #printmaking
We just launched a 16TB archive of every dataset that has been available on data.gov since November. This will be updated day by day as new datasets appear. It can be freely copied, and we're sharing the code behind it to help others make their own archives of data they depend on.
Announcing the Data.gov Archive | Library Innovation Lab
Today we released our archive of data.gov on Source Cooperative. The 16TB collection includes over 311,000 datasets harvested during 2024 and 2025, a complet...

This. God, this. It is such a manufactured panic and it started the moment they lost the fight over gay marriage. Support trans rights because it’s the right thing to do and also because this is all just a fascist push
Trans people have been around your whole life. You’ve been sharing bathrooms with them your whole life. They’ve been in your communities your whole life. They’ve even been playing sport your whole life. And you didn’t care *at all* till a few years ago when every right wing org decided you should

I made these papercuts to celebrate my little anti-AI zine racking up over 5,000 views since I wrote and published it in October 2024. #zine
As a university librarian, a week doesn’t go by without AI coming up in conversation with coworkers. This past week, I was frustrated to see AI use being accepted in a hobbyist printmaker group. So I made this original linocut print! Check insta for process videos & Juliesetele.com for a free zine
Original linocut portraits of the two cats I lost in 2022: Luxie (ginger) passed away in May and Shmuncle (black) in September. Gone but not forgotten!
I need to experiment a bit to get the background more solidly inked, but I’m very pleased with this first print I pulled from my Christina Hammock Koch linocut portrait block. This involved playing with letting the light in, since in linocut you carve away what you want to remain light.
I'm getting the strangest sense of Deja Vu.
Today, we’re excited to introduce Attie, currently as an invite-only closed beta. Attie is the first agentic social app on atproto. It’s something completely new — an experiment in making building on the protocol more accessible.
I’m thrilled to announce that my lil zine “My Abortion Journey” has been republished in a peer-reviewed, open access academic journal issue focused on zines! Much thanks to Spencer Keralis and Zach Frazier for making this project happen!! journals.library.unt.edu/index.php/un...

If zines can threaten the state then it says more about the state than anything else.
