Pouring one out for Bioware this morning, and thinking of their rise and fall across such a long period. It's oddly close to home, for someone who never worked there, and only in an adjoining industry. But I did get to see behind the curtain once, and it stuck with me.

Reading about Bioware being shut down while the Mass Effect tv-show spins up and potentially hitting big makes me think of my last year or two at EA... they'd laid off the entire RTS team right before Starcraft II came out and sold millions. Cue an executive - "...where's our Starcraft II?"

I think what infuriates me most about the Bioware news is that it's such an encapsulation of our last two years in that IT DIDN'T NEED TO BE THIS WAY.

Anyway I don't know who needs to know this but 1. You can easily shut down an entire apache server/<Directory>/<VirtualHost>/ by placing into your conf or htaccess Redirect 503 / 2. It might be a good idea to do this on any sites with PHP for about 36 hours until this week's patch is released

As far as I can tell, literally every article on this quotes the same "expert" — a former estranged father who has an entire blog dedicated to absolving parents of any responsibility. He also sells $995 "consultations" where he will blame your kids for cutting you off.

Every time I mention how much I hate James Carville, even in the context of a joke, someone on here will try to tell me that he's a great fighter for Democracy and he's doing his best to make things better and I need to give him respect. Get it through your head, James Carville is a malignancy.

New Fontaines album is great, it's grown on me with each spin. There are elements of Depeche Mode, New Order and Echo and the Bunnymen in these new songs but they still sound distinctly FDC.
