nobody should be paying anybody's fuckass submission fees
I know it doesn't count because it's no longer operational, and part of that is finances though the much bigger reason was because I just didn't have the time to do all the things anymore, but I ran a FEE-FREE *PRINT* literary journal for 16 years.
I do that right now, and I pay contributors. Not as much as I'd like, since it's basically a money loser, but I hate submission fees, and I hate that lit mags (at least, mainly US ones) have normalized the practice. It's shit. Writers shouldn't have to pay for what will in all likeliness be "no".
American Psycho the Musical is playing in Olathe! Go see it!
Thanks so much Mary!! Glad to stop by #HorrorWritersChat again. Saw many ppl expressing catharsis and self-(s)care in their responses and thought, “you know what, yeah I could use that rn.” Sharing this latest interview! @sophiestern.bsky.social runs a delightful series! bsky.app/profile/noct...

Pride Month is coming to an end but that doesn't mean we have to stop reading queer books. I've got a bunch of FFM+ book recs for you to add to your TBR so you can read queer all year ^_^
Nothing turns me off submitting to and reading a mag/antho quicker than the membership levels that dictate payment and other various nonsense. It's just submission fees and other scams dressed up in a pretty hat.

I had a fabulous time talking with spooky fiction maven @sophiestern.bsky.social about creative community, writing movies vs writing comics, building a story for an audience you love, and using structure & technique to test when things are working. Check it out!

I've just signed my first book. I am not being chill about it at all.
The funniest thing about writing a nearly 125k word fic is I can’t whine and be like “I’m not a writer idk what I’m doing 😩” cause obviously I thought I was one when I sat down and wrote that shit every night. Now if I think my writing is shit I’ll have nothing to hide behind lmao
Obsessed with this reader who showed me her list of owned Sophie Stern books.
I absolutely LOVED interviewing my dear friend, Pepper North <3 Check out this episode of Write Something Weird to hear about the writing process and what it takes to dive deeper into emotionally charged characters. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qa0...
