To me, Vermont’s democratic primary for governor is exciting because I will be genuinely happy to support either candidate in the general election. Please could we elect a governor who cares about education & maternal health 🤞🏻🙏🏻💛

I've mentioned in the past that I sponsored a local female race car driver and put pro-library messages on the car. They did a "pit party" where kids could come through, see the cars, etc. Andrea got book stickers made so all the kids could sign her car. Truly some of my best library outreach work.
The unfilled spots that result from turnover & the inability to recruit qualified candidates makes the job harder for teachers who stay. They lose valued, experienced partners, must train replacements and provide remediation for students who’ve been taught by a series of subs or novice teachers.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I would like to also place some responsibility on Meta and Twitter and Google, our propaganda machines. A lot of otherwise rational people have been convinced Fauci is the enemy because social media algorithms repeated that story to the people they knew would be the most susceptible.

Healthcare staff did absolutely everything they could but they cannot cure ignorance. They cannot cure an anti-science belief and culture. Thats YOUR responsibility. Not Dr. Fauci’s.
August starts tomorrow (the “Sunday” of summer for many teachers in the US). This year, like SO many others, I’m trying to figure out how to allow “summer” to extend into the school year. For me, summer is often a time to reset & reprioritize. I *try* to create habits that will continue…
Put my boat on the roof rack solo for the first time since pregnancy. Becoming mom to sweet W changed me in many ways. I’m so grateful for it all. AND there are these small moments when I find my “old” self again & it feels like a new kind of reconnection 🥰💛

Police murdered a Black man in the street in Madison WI today. Shot point blank in the head while on the ground, tased, and surrounded by four cops. It looks like an execution. Multiple videos circulating online. Things are about to get very bad here.

This is a great read, and it's also a lesson. This is what everyone could be doing, at every level. This is the possibility open to every one of us, while every single cry of "we had no choice" was and is a cowardly lie.

I don’t talk about real life on Main but my comment requires credentialing: i was at food banks 4x times last month, trying to support etc. Food insecurity is off the charts & I just don’t see anything on the horizon to help people. It’s terrifying. I just come home and sulk and cry and dissociate.

this isnt a woke thing. Or lefty social justice thing Its the average person looking around and being pissed off because why are these goons kidnapping our neighbors? If anything, I feel hope because one of the best ways to ensure a movement gains traction is to get regular ppl to see the problem
