This is all well and good, but the big question remains: what is NASA trying to accomplish with PROMISE beyond getting a "win"? What is it trying to accomplish, and is it worth drawing down limited stockpiles of Pu-238 and using our spare RTG to do so?

NASA administrator Isaacman's response to @planetarysociety.bsky.social @caseydreier.bsky.social report that flying the earthbound Mars test rover to the moon will likely cost a billion. Isaacman doesn't actually disagree or cite any inaccuracies, one notes

you know, people make fun of roland for their limited displays, but they're just spoiled by legible modern OLED panels. it really couldn't be simpler. for example, to record on P-6, simply summon the sneeple (or "snake people"), norNalize them, then just press the penis envy button (P.ENV) to Ɐr it.

roland P-6 red LED 7-segment 4-character display reads "SNPL"now it says "norN"the F sharp "P.ENV" button, glowing orange with envythe LED display now says uhhhh upside down A, lower case r, lower case i or perhaps a comma, lower case t

One thing people often don't realize is when someone is disabled, they might have energy limiting issues. They may not have the energy to socialize at times. It doesn't mean they hate you when they're not as around. They may be struggling. You should check on them & not assume the worst.

The modern conservative project explicitly supports impregnating children. The trans panic, anti-abortion politics, fearmongering about "over-medication" and disability support: it all comes back to a patriarchal freakout about losing control over who they see as their reproductive property.

Fox News complains that underage teenage girls aren’t getting pregnant enough: “The problem is teens and young adults. From ages 15-19, the fertility rate is down 70% in the last 2 decades, which means we are telling people who are young not to have babies.”

As usual, the most marginalized and vulnerable among us suffer from these cruel policy decisions. Those in power know this. They know that deregulation will sicken and kill children, the disabled, the poor and elderly first. They know those living in poverty will struggle.

“If the FDA is announcing recalls, how is it a cull?” Not everyone checks recall lists These contaminants wouldn’t be in the food without deregulation People going to food banks get no choice in what they receive People with food insecurity can’t afford to toss recalled food 🧵

This is the next step towards linking our solar system to exoplanets and a way towards the future hopeful success of the Habitable Worlds Observatory. NGRST will potentially find evidence for thousands of worlds microlensing, transits, and direct imaging 🤩🔭🧪

I'm sure national media will do everything they can to make sure the message the party takes away from Massachusetts is "actually voters don't care about age" instead of "this anti-trans bullshit is going over like botulism with the base"

bluesky absolutely has a hall monitor formerly precocious reply guy issue and it def hits everyone but one thing i think not everyone realizes is how much more often people of color are getting talked down to, over, corrected, and condescended to on here. by the worlds *most* annoying people.

Awful. Just awful. A promising young man, a high school honors grad who joined JROTC and dreamed of becoming a doctor, killed himself because of the Trump admin’s obsession with hurting Haitians and the humiliating shame of an ICE ankle monitor. His blood is on their hands.

A picture of a young black man, dressed in a light blue suit with a smart black bow tie, smiling as he is handed a diploma from a school official, a white man in his 40s-50s who is also smiling. Underneath is the caption “Pierre Damas Bel receives his high school diploma. (Family Photo/Instagram)”Bel arrived in the United States in 2024 in order to reunite with his parents, who had fled Haiti three years before. The family was granted temporary protected status, purchased a home in Springfield and settled into life in the U.S. Bel dreamed of studying medicine and graduated high school last May with honors and as a proud member of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), his father said. He was the eldest of three siblings and his family described him as smart and responsible.

“A Haitian immigrant who had grown increasingly distraught after losing his protection from deportation and being outfitted with an ankle monitor was run over and killed Monday in what his family believes was a suicide.” www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

kinda crazy and relieving to see after all that talk about digital income eclipsing physical lately. that said if the "tide turning" means "people flock to xbox" in the middle of an *actual BDS boycott regarding genocide* being given less priority than this then I will never forgive gamers.

I don’t know if it made it to Bluesky but over the weekend @gene.meme talked on Twitter about how he heard that gamescom was filled with devs expressing frustration over Sony’s decision and it seems Digital Foundry are backing it up. We’re on the verge of a potential 2013 Xbone turning of the tide.

As a teen, I wrote articles for a Dreamweaver website, and let me tell you, it was in fact this torturous. Though I did get used to its proclivities, as I did with heavy Java websites later. Then years later I was thankful for the janky but functional system on Kotaku.

In the late 90's people started using WYSIWYG editors like Dreamweaver to make websites, instead of by hand, and the html produced was famously complete dogshit. There were weird <br> tags everywhere, it'd look normal but be a huge pain in the ass to modify or figure out what fucked up, etc
