I'm sure I've said this on here before, but I was on swim team and during practices on smoggy days (less frequent in winter but still...) taking deep breaths was piercingly painful. I'm high school class of 1988.

I grew up in the Los Angeles basin in the 70s and 80s and remember having to stay inside because the smog was so bad - Stage 2 smog alerts, they were called. Apparently they haven't had one of those since 1988. Haven't had a stage one smog alert since 2003.

the google earth example demonstrates that they can turn AI shit off. the right thing to do is thank everyone who has shown how AI has caused, is causing, and will cause harm to people. acknowledge the harm done and make it right for those already harmed. but first of all: turn it the fuck off.
I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time.
