Enigmatic and often misunderstood creature. The BMW, seen here in a submissive pose, displaying its soft delicate underbelly, indicating that it is no longer a threat to other road users.

I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.
Trump: "The MMR I think should be taken separately. This is based on what I feel."
This is, weirdly, a good point. Just not in the way Purves thinks it is. I'm sure very few people on speed awareness courses are boy racers. But that doesn't mean it's not a problem; it reflects that driving & driving culture encourages antisocial behaviour in otherwise considerate people.
Disability will happen to almost everyone. Most people are only temporarily abled. It’s not a moral failing. It’s not a choice people make. The human body is frail. It only takes one illness, accident or stroke of bad luck to forever change your health.

We found him living in filth and badly attacked by other dogs living on the streets. For obvious reasons we called him Rod Stewart. He's the happiest little boy who loves people! Next stop will be a forever home!
Stephen Root appreciation post. One of the great character actors. When he shows up in a thing, you know that thing is going to be excellent.
The most dangerous thing many people do every day is drive their car and almost no one operates a vehicle with that in mind
It's funny, I know several people who are older than me and entirely risk averse about everything, flying, "germs", all of it. But as soon as they get behind the wheel of a car, they act like they are in a James Bond chase scene just going to the grocery store. I don't get it.

Caught a distracted driver using their phone today. He was very startled but recovered enough to shout “You’re one of those Cycling Mikey bastards aren’t you???!!!” @cyclingmikey.bsky.social you should be flattered! And not just because of how handsome I am but for your impact on road safety.

You wouldn't do this to motorists, so stop doing it to pedestrian infrastructure. It shows you have a clear lack of critical thinking skills and blatant disrespect and disregard for people outside of cars.
Back in the 90s, I had a couple of BMWs, and drove several others (the company I worked for at the time had them as pool cars). They were generally a great driving experience (in particular, the M3 was the one of the best cars I've ever had) After reading about this, I will never consider another.

TfL mortgaged £2bn of public money on a new tunnel that doesn't really make any new journeys possible—it just means people's existing car journeys are slightly less terrible. Meanwhile there are no step-free 24/7 river crossings for cycling east of Tower Bridge.

What was this driver up to?! Overtaking on a solid line, with traffic coming the other way, looking over at me rather than paying attention, gesticulating, pointing... Yeah, not a great advert for GS Roofing. I'll message them and see what they say. #DNRPoliceScotland
There's a weird thing about traveling by rail in the UK. Many station staff seem to dedicate themselves to making journeys as unpleasant as possible - yet the on train staff always do absolutely everything they possibly can to make your trip enjoyable.
Everyone wants to throttle down the speed of fast ebikes to sub-20 MPH and ban them etc. sure I guess. But no one talking about the gradual creep of cars getting larger and ignoring speed limits and blowing thru red lights.
"Their aim is simply to reduce the number of non-motorists killed or seriously injured... This creates a perverse incentive. The easiest way to reduce the death toll of pedestrians and cyclists is to discourage people from walking or cycling in the first place"
