so Paxton is at a double disadvantage, because he's an adulterer with criminal scandals and all sorts of other just tremendously embarassing stuff; he's tied to Trump, so "traditional MAGA" will want to turn out for him and probably don't care, but some of these people also hate Trump now

My read is that there aren’t five votes to let Trump literally rig elections. Roberts and Barrett won’t greenlight overt election subversion or chaotic, illegal interference with voting. Kavanaugh and Gorsuch aren’t reliable but don’t love the chaos either. Thomas and Alito want to end democracy.

The fact that both Democrats and Republicans are racing to the 10 side of a 90-10 issue really tells you a lot about the state of our democracy (it's a corporatocracy), and how both parties view democracy in general (as a nuisance).
